Every time I see this view, I wish that Nashville City Center II had been completed (40 stories and 510 feet tall), which would've filled in part of that gap between NCC1 and the Hermitage Hotel.

What was City Center II supposed to look like? Any pics of the original plan?

It looked identical to City Center I, only rotated 180 degrees and 12 stories taller. I was just able to find the renderings online.

The garage is, if I recall, only able to support (structurally speaking) up to 23 stories.

Dang!  Should have been built.  Still looks more attractive than most new buildings... and would have been pushing the 500' mark.  When was that?  Late 80s?

I'd take that design over the design of any highrise currently under construction in this city short of, maybe, the JW Marriott.

Circa 1987. The Real Estate crash of the period killed the project. When NCC1 went up, it was the last skyscraper built until South Central Bell.

About '90 or '91.   Our firm moved in when it first opened.    Still there (!), we occupy the top half.    

The adjacent garage, which is 5 levels underground, was designed to support a second tower and the current owner is keeping it as an option, but I'm not aware of any imminent plans.    But, hey, if our new tenant, Warner Music, brings the expansion they're talking about, who knows!

Thanks for those pictures! I actually think NCC1 is one of the better-looking downtown buidlings. At least it's not a glass box, or a dingy brown hotel. It would've been cool to have a second taller one.

Thanks for the picture! It is nice for those of us not living in the area to see these updates. I mostly rely on pics that you all post of construction cams. As for the later, it appears that the OxBlue cam for the MDHA parking garage was taken down on December 5th. Does anyone know if there is another cam for 505? I have looked online with no luck. Since Tony didn't have one for the SoBro, I'm not optimistic that there will be one for 505. Keep the pics coming guys, and thanks!!

At least there is the Adventure Science Center cam on WKRN. You can definitely see the glass on 505 from this vantage point. I love this view and seeing all the cranes. It would be nice to see this view with the Gulch and Midtown development.

Ok...a VERY crude mock-up of 505 in the skyline.  I just took that little bit of glass that's already installed and copy & pasted several times to give us a slight clue.  Of course, the glass is in the shadow in the current shot from Adventure Science Center...so it looks darker than it actually is...I suppose.  (yes...my version looks like the leaning tower of Pisa! Haha!)
