I thought it was interesting in his interview when he said he likes clean lines for his buildings with no appendages. Ummm Signature Tower had a giant appendage on top! His tastes have obviously changed lol.

Do you know where is south Nashville the photo was taken from? I didn’t hear her mention a name in her video. -

Since this thread popped back up I’ve been reading about Huntsville. I’ve never visited, and have only passed by to visit family in Birmingham many years ago. I never really thought much of the city. I mean you can’t even see it from the interstate. I was today days old when I found out it’s Alabama’s largest city. I always thought it was Birmingham. Mind blown!

Couldn’t someone ask one of the workers onsite if they know anything about the tower progress?

https://newyorkyimby.com/2024/03/renderings-revealed-for-the-torch-at-740-eighth-avenue-in-midtown-manhattan.html Probably one of the strangest skyscrapers I’ve ever seen. Haha you can delete my post. I noticed yours as soon as I posted. Possibly the strangest skyscraper I’ve seen. -

That paint job on the Renaissance didn’t last long. At least the dark grey portion. -

I was stationed in Japan for two years in the Tokyo area and visited all the time. That’s a normal crowd for Shibuya Crossing. Also, there are many elevated crosswalks throughout the area and many cars. It’s a very nice system and you’d never think you were in a metropolis of 38 million people. My son is currently stationed in the same area with the Navy, and takes the train everywhere. He says he doesn’t miss driving at all, and has no desire to come back to the states anytime soon. He really loves it there.

You should post these photos on the "I Remember Nashville When" Facebook group for all the people that whine about how good that area was in the good old days. -
Bridgestone Arena: further development of property

Yes! I was trying to find that with no luck. -
Bridgestone Arena: further development of property
TNinVB replied to markhollin's topic in Nashville
There are/were 6 of them. They were stationary and basically beamed straight up into the sky. Looked pretty cool from afar when lit. -
Very underwhelming. But it fits Nashville because it’s a box.

Haha so that’s why Nashville is so lacking for exterior lighting on its towers. -

Looking at these old pictures of the arena reminded me of something about its exterior lighting. Remember when it had spotlights on the roof that beamed up into the sky? Are they still used? -
I would travel to this IKEA all the time before Hampton Roads (Norfolk/VA Beach) got one. The Woodbridge store is on a small parcel of land thanks to the parking garage. Even the store in Norfolk does not seem to take up a lot of land. There’s a small parking lot and a garage. I remember when the store location was announced thinking how the heck is an IKEA going to fit there? It’s right off of I-64 and Norfolk Premium Outlets is on the other side of the interstate, as well as the airport.

Inner Loop - CBD, Downtown, East Bank, Germantown, Gulch, Rutledge
TNinVB replied to smeagolsfree's topic in Nashville
I visited my folks for new year and am currently on my way back to Virginia Beach. We did some driving around, and as usual I was blown away by all the new developments. SoBro, the Gulch, and NY have really transformed downtown. It’s like an entirely new city. My only complaint is that Middle Tennessee really needs to clean up. It’s so trashy along the interstate and interchanges. Road debris, garbage, dead animals, you name it. There was nowhere else like this on our long trip from Virginia Beach to Clarksville. What gives? Are people just littering more in MT? Is there no inmate workforce to pick up trash? Do people not care? Tennessee and of course MT are so beautiful so it’s a little disheartening, and embarrassing. I’m sure it being winter does not help since most of the vegetation is dead and trash is more visible. I don’t remember it appearing this bad in the summer months. -
Wasn’t sure where to put this. But OKC?? https://www.archpaper.com/2023/12/supertall-ao-oklahoma-city-countrys-second-tallest-building/?

I think they would be crazy not to. We have one in Norfolk which is right next to Virginia Beach. I don’t think I’ve ever been in there and it was busy. At least nothing like the IKEA in Woodbridge, VA. which is a suburb of D.C.
