The official roof height is 524. And that has been true since the beginning and has not nor will not change.

The structural height is the question without an official answer (that I am aware of). The structural height was 543, but switching the mechanical curtain (which gave the appearance of a crown) to a glass wall will apparently change the structural height to 544/545. Again, I don't have any official confirmation on the structural height.

Regardless, the listed height will be 524 ft, 160 m

Looking at the time-lapse on the Adventure Science Center camera, you can tell the crane stops moving about that time and hasn't moved since, so they must have shut it down after the incident / accident.  I'm betting either something the crane was hoisting dropped on someone...or part of the hoist-line (whatever you call it) hit someone or fell on them.  Just speculation on my part.

Or...it could be that something happened while they were trying to raise the crane (which is expected to happen any day now).

Crane elevation wont take place until March 4-5 according to the Nashville Post article posted last week.

Two more floors and it will be tallest (by floor count) in Tennessee. The 110 North Main Building in Memphis has 37 floors (per Wikipedia) although it is only 430 ft. tall.

I haven't posted anything in a long time....   my partner, Michael, passed away back in June and I've been keeping a pretty low profile everywhere.. 

 

I've been watching 505 go up and just thought I'd share a view of it from the north side..  it's not the best (after dark, cell phone camera, etc)... but still, it gives an idea of the impact on the skyline from this direction (near the Farmer's Market).

Thank you both...   it has been the hardest year of my life. We had been together 28-1/2 years, but I know with my "knower" that he's far better off now, and I am at peace..   still sad, but at peace. Now it's just me and our 20+ year old dog, Big'un...  his back legs don't work anymore and I can't leave him alone for more than a couple of hours at a time...   eventually, I'll be able to get out and about again, maybe even make it to one of the group's meetings..  

 

in spite of everything, I still lurk around here to keep my eye on what's going on around the city..  I really appreciate everybody's comments about everything. Michael and I loved Nashville as if we were both born here - he'd been here since the 70s and I've been here over 30 years, myself, so it really is Home.

The estimated crane raise was March 4th-5th and that was before being out of commision 2 days after the accident. That math suggests we get the final raise tomorrow, if not Wednesday. Going to be a behemoth looking from the south.

If the crane is up to the full 600' height, then the topping out of 505 will be about halfway between the current height of the core and the crane arm.

One final mock-up of what the finished product will almost look like, as far as height.  It does help relieve the "flat skyline" issue we have just a little, but would have been nice to have gotten another 100' or so to help even more.

Unfortunately it doesn't help the "all (most) of our buildings have no crown" problem.

But I do agree. So many of our buildings are tall but stretched (looking at you, Bridgestone), so this will definitely help there.
