What's the status with the building that is proposed on the same lot???

They've been doing some drilling on that portion of the site, but I haven't seen anything more significant there yet.

It would appear that there is still about 25% of excavation work to be completed (the large mass that faces the Westin entrance near the southeast corner of the lot that borders on 8th Avenue South and Clark Street) before they can begin serious work on laying foundation.

Looking SE from the NW corner of the property near Demonbreun Avenue (essentially standing where the base of the Crescent Demonbreun apartment tower will be built).  The large mound on the far left side still needs to be removed.

Looking southward from Demonbreun Avenue.  The large mass in the center that is directly across from the Westin entrance is yet to be removed. We're getting closer by the day.

RE: the mound referenced by @markhollin above: It had been quiet for a few weeks now without much blasting, but they have certainly kicked things back into gear this week. My guess is that they were removing as much dirt as they could around the perimeter, as evinced by the lower spots, and that mound must be a big hunk of bedrock they have unearthed.

Will the apartment building on the back be built at the same time as the hotel or afterwards?

It will not start at the same time.  No official word has been given yet for The Crescent Demonbruen Tower as far as a lot of the particulars like groundbreaking and estimated time of completion.
