That's one massive demo project...but would there have been a quicker way to get this done?  Seems like it's painstaking work, one brick at a time.

They are saving a lot of materials and even selling the used steel for reclaiming and recycling.

Price of scrap metal is way down right now, so they are not getting a lot of money that way.

 

As far as groundbreaking....To Be Determined, but I think I remember seeing May or June somewhere.

And speaking of Stix and the roundabout … Florida-based Turnberry Associates is trying to finalize the choice of a general contractor for its J.W. Marriott hotel project to be located one block north of the aforementioned traffic circle.

A challenge: Multiple sources tell the Post the Turnberry currently is over budget (a situation that is becoming more commonplace as a labor shortage and the high cost of materials create challenges for Nashville’s construction boom).

A Turnberry spokesman declined to comment.

What a day to work from home...

I would have had a prime view of all the action from my office in the AT&T Building Cummins Station. Apparently, my entire office closed and they sent everybody home because, naturally, nobody could get anything done by candlelight.

Well things certainly could have been worse. This happened in NYC this morning and last I saw on TV was one dead, 2 seriously injured.

Why's gotta be all that? ─ "poorly stitched"  It IS what it is ─ a stitched but enlightening fish-eye that appeals to the senses.

Time-lapsed looks like a nest of diesel-hydraulic arachnids consuming their quary as ground-prey.  Looks the same from the MTA bus passing along 8th Ave, only in slow motion ─ even at 6:30 in the morning.

^^After about a minute of watching, I started imagining the machines as some type of living insects eating the building.  When the one closest to the camera started eating away at the dark red building...it was like a grasshopper eating a leaf.  Very cool.

Yeah, it was a really neat effect. And when it went back to real time they looked like a couple of looming robot dinosaurs. Great video, everyone should really check it out.

Clean-up is basically complete. The site should be completely clear by the end of the week at the pace they are currently going.
