You know, I just realized that the massing does play off of the sweeping lines of the MCC to some extent...

In particular, the portion that fronts 8th could be seen from above as mimicking the lines of a guitar body just like the MCC. Plus, while the enormous pedestal is, well, enormous, it also roughly matches the height of the MCC across the street, as well as being clad with a wall of windows instead of blank wall.

That is actually the third crane base for the project. What will happen according to a worker on site is the the smaller crane on site will come down about Feb. or Mar. And be moved to the third base. It is a cost saving measure and they will still have plenty of time to finish that part as it will take a while to get the main tower up.

Bridgestone will certainly be a skyline changer in a big way but JW and Second Ave partners development are the only "outside the box' game changers. As far as I'm concerned, everything else including 505 and 5th and Broad is just infill (at least from the perspective of design).
