^ Beer is OK on the street, just not hard liquor. It's always a tough decision where to sit at places like Bistro Europa with sidewalk dining. Sidewalk and beer or inside and liquor.

Not sure how the exact ordinance reads.

Sec. 24-215. Possession of beverages containing alcohol on public property.

(a) Open containers. It shall be unlawful for any person to be in possession of any opened container containing beer, wine, alcoholic liquor, or any similar intoxicating beverage, inclusive of mixed drinks, by whatever name called or known, which contains alcohol and is used as a beverage, while on any public street, sidewalk, or mall, except to the extent authorized by permits for outdoor cafes issued under section 8-257, for special events and block parties under section 36-136, and for other public facilities and buildingswhen a permit is issued under subsection (b)(5) of this section.

My question is: if I buy a beer at the window, do I have to stand directly on the sidewalk in front of the building and drink it? I know that it wouldn't be an issue at an event like Main Street Jazz, but what about after it ends?

THUMBS UP TO BERTOLOS! Beer makes everything better.

My guess that beer sales will be stirckly limited to when the street are closed for block parties and special events like Main Street Jazz. Again, still like Beale Street becuase it is closed as well.

My family and I ate at the new Inter Buffet in Mauldin today, their opening day. They are located in the old Quincy's, that 2 other restaurants have started and died in since they shut down. This place will suffer the same fate. The food was completely average, not a very good selection, and it cost $10 per person :dunno: . In order to compete in that type of restaurant, you have to out Ryan Ryans', either by having equal food with a lower price or better quality. This restaurant does neither.

I had to eat at Ryan's recently and noticed a terrible downturn in the overall quality and cleanliness since they were sold. I would not recommend them to anyone currently. Golden Corral seems to have them beat at present (as far as large family buffets go).

Noticed today a new coal fired pizza place is coming to the center at Highway 14 and Batesville. :yahoo::yahoo: Coal fired beats wood fired hands down! Is this the first coal fired pizza place in Greenville? Can't think of another. This should be great!!!

Ok,

I heard a few things today and thought I would share.

Theres going to be a new Ice Cream place opening where Sprouts was.

Its a place called Gelato's. A few months away though.

Also

The Sophisticated Pallet was Sold.

The new owner has a restaurant in Aiken and somewhere else. Not sure where. From my understanding its going to be a southwest meets southeast type of place.

Something like tacos and sushi. Not sure of exacts but I believe the the Pallet is done within the next few days.

I hope that someone plans to do some major work on the building that the Sophisticated Pallet is in. It looks awful and the small windows on the grown floor behind the tiny porches or whatever they are make it hard to see what anything is. Everything just always looks closed in that building.

You're joking, right? You could drain the grease into a cup and drink it along with the pie at that place.

That is what made it so good! Actually for anyone who went to Clemson, it was just kind of Nostalgic to have a Peppino's in town.

Who knew it had even opened, talk about no promotion.

Tacos and sushi. Sweet. I have always wanted somewhere I could get some tuna sashimi with a taco on the side.

Wow, that is really sad that Sophisticated Palate sold. That was one of the "secret" gems along Main Street. Hopefully we can get another European cafe to open soon.

Wow, didn't know that. Barbara and her husband were excellent host! Wonder if they retired? I think she was Dutch....many of her dishes reminded me of Addy's. Great little place. I'll miss them.

Guess fish tacos will be on the menu shortly in that location. Could be a fun new place.

My wife and I had our wedding reception there 4 years ago. The last time we were in Jim had said they had tried to buy the space but could never work out a deal with the owners of the building. I had a feeling they would not last much longer.

Barbara and Jim were great host and I wish the best for them.

Saw in the Real Eastate Section of the Greenville News Business Section today that Brick City Grill will be opening a location across from West end Field at 912 S. Main St. I a pretty sure that is the Rocks & Ropes Location.
