Lol, Lower Broadway is less and less of a source of pride every day.  Hell, the one and only Steve Smith, who has made millions off of his low rent,  knockoff honky tonks that peddle toxic bro culture,  came out today and said Lower Broadway is out of control.  Steve Smith!

Because I voted for candidates in my state district doesn't mean those elected from my state district received votes from me.  I happen to be a proponent for this project, but your statement seems to say it doesn't matter as I get what I get because of who represents me....that's an entirely different conversation, and I wouldn't presume to know who you voted for based upon an undescriptive and indirectly related comment.

You're right, is fair, and that was my point...that even though I reside outside of Davidson County, I have the right to discuss this project as state money is being used.

He didn't say anything about "out of control". So yeah you made it up. He specifically refers to the homeless and criminals including the drug dealers. So the moaning about the tourists is out of place. This "story" is nothing more than a poorly constructed hit piece against the entertainment district probably on behalf of the real estate developers. This is the third such article by that sham of a paper in less than four months.

Your opinion on Lower Broadway, it's perceived source of "local pride", etc. are basically irrelevant in the larger picture of whether it is a competitive advantage vs. other markets or not. I don't really enjoy that area anymore either but to dismiss it as a business draw is a mistake.

Why are people so mad? LOL. I'm not talking about the State putting in the $500M but the rest of the term sheet from the City... The City is forgoing FUTURE sales tax revenue to be generated within the Stadium on a site that is currently generating $0... If nothing happens it's not like that parking lot is going to be redeveloped...  The Sports Authority controls it and it hasn't been developed in nearly 25 years and the Titans have an agreement that they are the tenants of that property. Then the new 130 acre campus will receive a sales tax incentive outside of the Stadium. The City/State will still receive HALF of the sales tax from this campus which is also currently generating $0!!! There's NONE being generated on this campus as we speak so there is a revenue stream from the deal.... HALF of something in the future is better than NONE at all. The city increasing the hotel/motel tax 1% which truly is generally on tourists... The real big incentive the city is doing is all the public infrastructure and the East Bank boulevard that will occur concurrently with the project. I don't understand why everyone is so mad?

This afternoon, Mayor Cooper's administration is expected to file three items with Metro Council regarding the new stadium:

  • a resolution to approve the term sheet;
  • a resolution to endorse the start of a formal RFQ, or "request for qualifications," process that will result in Metro selecting a real estate developer to build on the city-owned land surrounding the proposed new stadium;
  • an ordinance enacting an increase in the hotel/motel occupancy tax, raising it from 6% to 7% of the price of a room booking, to help fund stadium construction.

That timing tees up votes at Metro Council's upcoming meetings, as early as its next session, on Nov. 1. Resolutions require one vote, while ordinances require three votes at separate meetings.

Cooper's administration plans to seek the Sports Authority's endorsement of the term sheet at its Nov. 17 meeting.
