Ha I've been to all of the breweries, thought not in one weekend! I remember when Tailgate opened that it was such a cool thing to have a buddy who lived out in Bellevue. I wish they still made those sandwiches.

I look at that list and realize that maybe I should be a tourist one weekend in the area I’ve lived in since 1995. So many of those I’ve never visited.

I don't think I ever followed up on this but the 2024 impact for the RnR is minimal to the race itself and finish. The main impact is that we will have to park downtown. No stadium parking will be available. This is great for the start line but is going to suck hauling it back over the pedestrian bridge after finishing that run. 2025+ will be really interesting. They're likely going to have to completely change the routing of that course. I don't envy the folks who are going to have to figure that out.

Bridgestone Arena: further development of property
glamdring269 replied to markhollin's topic in Nashville
Somewhat relevant to the discussion of dark skies... I have this for Death Valley but you can zoom out and see anywhere. Pretty amazing once you zoom out and see the eastern half of the US vs. the west. https://www.lightpollutionmap.info/#zoom=9.29&lat=36.6865&lon=-117.1690&state=eyJiYXNlbWFwIjoiTGF5ZXJCaW5nUm9hZCIsIm92ZXJsYXkiOiJ3YV8yMDE1Iiwib3ZlcmxheWNvbG9yIjpmYWxzZSwib3ZlcmxheW9wYWNpdHkiOjYwLCJmZWF0dXJlc29wYWNpdHkiOjg1fQ== -
Bridgestone Arena: further development of property

I just wish we could have kind of frozen it in time maybe around 12-15 years ago. To me that was basically when Broadway was at it's best. Downtown was clean and accessible but not overrun. Even Fri and Sat nights were not too terrible unless there was some kind of event going on. If anyone ever brings up Broadway and how it changed I always joke that the day Robert's took the booths out and replaced them with high tops was the moment that started it all. -
Trader Joe's coming to Murfreesboro. This has to be the most asked for thing in the Boro that can finally be checked off the list. Shane's comments kind of show just how ridiculous this ask has been. https://www.wkrn.com/news/local-news/murfreesboro/trader-joes-coming-to-rutherford-county/

This broke ground 2.5 years ago?! It really feels like some parts of this transformation have just flown by. (No pun intended for real) -

I need to stop in to see how this compares to Patron. It’s in such a weird spot that I always forget it’s there. Bridgestone is good at a lot of things but they do have some opportunities when it comes to activating some of the available space in that arena. -
Seems like this has been the case since I moved here in 1995. The good news is it feels like it's been mostly sprawl as the core infrastructure doesn't feel like it has changed all that much. We are to the point though that we're glad we often don't have to cross over the interstate into central Murfreesboro. It can be a nightmare at times. I can get from my house near the Blackman schools and parked in downtown Nashville faster than I can get from my house to MTSU some days. Side note: I remember walking into a Taco Bell in Murfreesboro back in the mid-90s and seeing these huge screens in front of the check out counter. They were testing having us do our own ordering/customization/etc. on these behemoths. Can you imagine a free-standing touchscreen interface back in 1995? That would have required a screen large enough to make it readable to the customer? Yeah now probably quadruple what you're imagining per device. These things were gigantic. Anyway, the point here is that the reason they were testing is because even back then apparently the Boro Taco Bell (yes, we only had one) was one of the busiest in the country at the time.

That basically confirms the RNR Nashville Marathon event is going to be challenging to say the least. The Tennessean article references February as the start date so given the RNR event is held in late April this will definitely have some impact. The organizers haven't said anything at this point but looking forward to seeing what the plan is for this.

Nashville International Airport Development thread

Heading to Vegas on Thursday. Might be the first time in my life I'm glad to be on a 530am flight. If I'm dealing with airport congestion at 4am we're in a lot more trouble than I realized. -
Great angle. You know it's bad when I'm looking at these pics wondering 'oh, which is that new building?'. I go down all the time for Preds games and seems like I always notice something new that has probably been going up for months and months. Perfect example is that rather large building in the foreground of the photo. I know I've walked past it multiple times recently to go to shows at Ascend but never really noticed it from this angle.

Anyone seen any updates on the Boro location? It was announced more than a year ago. I had actually forgotten all about it until seeing this Franklin announcement. https://www.tennessean.com/story/entertainment/dining/2022/08/17/nashville-m-l-rose-craft-beer-burgers-coming-murfreesboro/10353209002/

The prices don't even seem competitive vs. American Airlines with what I'm seeing for our Yellowstone trip next June. Flying out on a Friday and back on a Saturday. Even if I were to change to Sat - Sat it still doesn't make sense. Kind of far out though so will continue to keep an eye on it, though I also expect AA prices to drop over the next few months as well.

Sorry I was not very clear. I guess my point was that the Titans probably have some sort of plan for whatever near-site parking that is going to be impacted due to this. But to your point, they might only need a contingency plan for a quarter of the available space. The difference I guess is that for the marathon the entire parking lot is used for something. I can't remember the lot numbers but here is what I basically recall: North Side: Dedicated to the run itself West Side: Dedicated primarily to the finish line activities. Post-run nutrition, merch, BEER!, entertainment, etc. South Side: I think this is used for parking but can't remember. East Side: Parking. And it is always full as far as I can remember. They even use lots on the other side of Shelby and I'm sure there are still folks who show up late and find it difficult to get a spot. Anyway, that is a lot of stuff for someone to figure out how to reposition. The logistics of the finish line portion is probably the most easily solvable... there are a lot of people in this run though so I don't want to downplay this as it is probably far more difficult to deal with than I can imagine. But even if they solve that they're going to need to find something that then easily connects tens of thousands of runners back with their vehicles. No one wants to walk an additional mile or two after finishing a half or full marathon.
