I know people like to rag on Tepper for some of the stuff that has happened...but man...it was pretty awesome to see Red Hot Chili Peppers concert there last night.  We have missed on so many big shows in the past 25 years that I have been here because we couldn't have stadium tours.  Not sure how many the stadium holds for a concert, but there was a lot of people uptown that normally wouldn't be drinking and having a great time.  I might not have been "sold out" but there wasn't many empty seats that I could see.

The former owner Jerry Richardson didn't want the grass damaged by the tour equipment being moved in and out of the stadium if I remember correctly.  As a result the stadium was only limited to sporting events.

That's why, yeah. Concerts tear up sports grass really bad.

Any chance Tepper puts Panthers HQ and practice facilities somewhere along North Tryon between Uptown and NODA?

Maybe he can build a balloon based practice facility. That way when he eventually changes his mind on location he can just float it away.

Walked by the Tepper owned property on W Morehead backing up to the greenway trail.  

While I have problems with things Mr Tepper has done with some of his facilities proposed and otherwise he has a chance to make a statement on this piece.   (Also I love he is bringing big concerts like Luke Combs to Charlotte (which I expect 70K plus) due to his NC roots) and of course bringing the Charlotte FC team. )    Oh yeah your bubble still looks good.

as for the stadium lets do a Miami Dolphins  Hard Rock Stadium  redo of the Bank and leave it there.  Cover most of the seating area but leave it open air.

I like BoA Stadium.  A new stadium would be a waste in my opinion.

Agree on stadium staying where it is, and think it was very savvy of Tepper to feature performances and other events at the venue.  Has also been a boon to uptown energy.  But I don’t think he’ll follow through on any sort of entertainment district.

At least covered seats!  Living this right now after preparing for Sunday's "rain" that was in the forecast bringing ponchos to the game but forgetting sunscreen

Tepper bought that land maybe for an entertainment district with amphitheater retail restaurants etc.  no formal plans have been announced.

Not to turn this into a football thread, but there are lots of promising coordinators in the league right now who could be the next successful head coach. Ken Dorsey on the Bills, Demeco Ryans on the 49ers, Byron Leftwich on the Bucs to name a few. If Tepper is smart he will invest in one of those now that it has been proven for the 1000th time that college coaches are usually not ready for immediate transition into the NFL.

As for why the mid-season firing, I think it was just embarrassing to allow a coach to keep his job for so long with this level of performance. The team had no fire or energy. They will not start winning with their new interim coach, but I think the hope is that they regroup a little bit and start to develop the young talent for an upcoming rebuild. Before it seemed like they were just trotting out onto the field waiting for the game to be over.

Gives us the most time to look for a new coach, get in front of the market, while letting Rhule have time to find the best possible college job. His remaining buyout is decreased by the terms of his next contract.

This is a very interesting design from an architectural perspective. It looks very "urban" and designed to be a part of a cityscape, rather than the typical convention of the stadium as a stand-alone sculptural object. I really like it from the design point of view.

That said, I think it is a disgrace that this project is proceeding. First, the existing stadium is less than 25 years old. To tear it down is incredibly wasteful of the materials and resources that went into its construction. Stadiums can easily last 100+ years if properly maintained and periodically modernized - just look at many of the classic college stadiums. Second, although the Titans are putting in $800 million towards a new stadium, that still leaves the governments on the hook for $1.4 billion plus. That is a shockingly large sum of money to spend on a venue that, even in a wildly optimistic scenario, would be dormant more frequently than it would host an event. This, in a fast-growing region that just rejected a transit referendum, ostensibly over cost concerns. It's a shameful reflection of political priorities.

I hope Charlotte doesn't go down the same path. Bank of America Stadium is a modern classic IMO, and could easily stay in service for a long time. More importantly, the region should be using its limited resources on projects that bring a daily benefit to all of its citizens, rather than subsidizing a billionaire's vanity project.
