  1. Peebles was clearly a phony since day 1. How is that NY skyscraper going?
  2. I wish they would sell off the Diocesan Pastoral Center
  3. AA has 28 gates at LAX and Delta has 28 (with codeshares) under the new configuration at LAX. Delta now has the most flights and passengers. Delta is lapping United and AA with terminal upgrades too at LGA, BOS (and SLC, DTW, MSP and ATL). As a Delta loyalist, I love it.
  4. That was a tunnel until probably 2002. I remember it as a young kid (I think).
  5. Delta is going to still focus on Atlanta for those flights, but probably increasing flights to their other focus cities. Hopefully more to SLC, and maybe eventually adding flights to LAX or SEA
  6. I had CBS on while working, after watching Price is Right and somewhat catching the local news and when I looked up saw what looked like Marshall park when Young and the Restless came on (I don't watch it), so I have no idea on the background of the city in the show but it was right, they used Marshall park to build a skyline. You can even tell there are some photoshopped Charlotte buildings in the shot.
  7. They just picked a designer a few months ago. Have minimum funding and a timeline.
  8. The toy store across from laurel market was called Bedford Falls Toys before Black Forest, for the person who was "confused".
  9. Excuse me that is going to connect to the beltline (and connect 4 subway lines) in the next 5 years...
  10. SC road construction is the worst I've ever seen. Georgia has built about 60 miles worth of new lanes in 3 years. SC has been building 60 miles for 15 years.
  11. I'd say BofA is pretty equivalent to Miami's Hard Rock Stadium, and it underwent a $350m renovation in 2015, and the location and situation is much worse. It also isn't going anywhere with the new F1 track, Paddocks and club renovations surrounding the stadium.
  12. Not going to lie, I flew threw Beirut last December and they had incredible Christmas decorations. With arabic writing in most places, it was surreal. Lebanon is still about 40% chrisitian. The duty free shopping and Cedar club were very nice and modern. The customs area and the concourses off the main terminal were similarly shaped to CLT, but when you got out there it felt like you were in the movie Argo.
  13. I still can't believe how many companies want to move to Dallas. Place is a total hole. I understand the central location, business climate and cost to do business, but I wouldn't subject anyone to having to live in that flat brown, treeless concrete jungle.
  14. Wow it looks similar to the Walgreens in Dowtown Atlanta too
  15. Man we really need to be talking about a blue line extension...
  16. No, and I generally think lane widening isn't a positive, but with the amount of 18 wheelers traveling the I-85 corridor, the structural issues of I-85 west of Charlotte are decades behind other states in the region. South Carolina is trying to improve this corridor, even if it is taking a decade to complete the widening. North Carolina's lack of progress on the highway between the largest 2 cities in the region is pathetic.
  17. Georgia is 3 lanes from Atlanta to the Florida border on 75, I-95 from SC to FL and 85 is soon to be 3+ lanes from SC border to Alabama (4 from ATL to almost the AL border). Georgia has much better roads and construction is much faster than NC. Atlanta has bad traffic, but the improvements come quickly and the infrastructure is much more built out than NC.
  18. The most typical NCDOT BS that Charlotte to Wilmington has be so deprioritized over the years. Kinston, Goldsboro and New Bern always pull so much more from the state government than they produce. Its unbelievable.
  19. GA is substantially ahead of NC. 85 in Gastonia is case in point. Georgia will also probably have 3 lanes each way on 85 to the SC border before SC finishes (LOL) and before NC even starts the widening in Gaston county. ATL will has reversible and toll lanes throughout most of the metro.
  20. Surprised no one has mentioned Rail Car servicer TTX moving their HQ to Charlotte from Chicago. TTX’s new office will be just under 70,000 square feet, with the buildout expected to be complete by this spring. The office will open in 2024 and will include a work cafe, balcony and a training facility. https://chicago.suntimes.com/business/2023/7/13/23794146/rail-car-company-ttx-pulls-headquarters-chicago
  21. It's interesting to me these "hubs" tend to be in smaller metros with very specific focuses (Greenville and Augusta for example), not large metro areas with broad funding. I would think this comparatively hurts us less by not having it, if peer cities also aren't hosting these hubs. To be fair Richmond and Dallas had hubs, one from the state of VA the other through SMU (who had large amounts of matching private funds). The state of NC def dropped the ball, but they would have nominated RDUCH.
