Nice one, thank you for this info! Yes, I miss living downtown TERRIBLY. I was in the Bennie Dillon from 2012 to 2015 and had to sell, move out of Nashville, etc. It was bad times, but I'm now in position to start making real plans to get back downtown in the next three or so years. I CAN NOT WAIT.

I'm thinking that they're going to have to pour concrete into the box that's holding the first section of the crane and then probably have to let it set for at least a few days first.  I've been thinking about that mobile crane myself but it's too damn hot right now to walk over there and take a look!

I see that they've poured the concrete in the form and it looks like they have the power hooked up.  They're also shoveling out the rock to get the whole area level behind the crane base.

Crane base still being put up the big vehicle on the right looked like a big mobile crane, i imagine in the next week it will be going up!

Is my assumption that the crane is just for the YMCA portion correct? I assume that because it's placed so far to that side of the site.

If you look at it from above it's actually more towards the center, I'm pretty sure it's for the main tower.

Per FAA filings we will have 2 cranes for this one. The next base will likely be closer to 10th.

The crane is up and functional.  They're digging out more rock and leveling out the area behind the crane.  Looks impressive!

No, the Alcove is too far away, I don't think the crane could reach even as far as the middle of the street.  I was wondering the same thing about the second crane but I'll bet we'll find out very soon.  I was so glad it cooled down this week, I don't know how those workers can stand a hot day in all of that protective clothing!

This shot right here!!!   First off, it shows the newly minted Alcove and the u/c Prime and the start of a tallest!  Then, when you consider looming in the background are 505 and the Cumberland and the Viridian, the shot turns into an incredible homage to Tony G.!  Stupendous!

Hole getting more definition on east side; pedestrian sidewalk canopy being erected along YMCA Way.

They're putting a roof on the pedestrian walkway, it makes me wonder if it's going to extend around the corner.  They've got dump trucks all lined up this morning to haul away rock which they're digging up in the area near the crane base.  I've never been quite sure how much they're going to excavate next to the old building.  At first I thought it wouldn't go all the way to the building but they keep digging more out.  I can't wait to see the foundation and the elevator core get started!

If I had to guess, I would say they won't. This is most likely to get folks from Church Street back to the YMCA entrance only. It is very possible that they will eventually be shutting down the sidewalk along the construction frontage just like they have done for the other two Tony G projects. Not that I agree with it, but prolly what will happen.
