From Tuesday afternoon, they're working on the second floor above the street and I see that the hole which I think is for the core on the third photo is full of water today.

From Thursday afternoon, not that much has changed although the hole that was partially filled in on the last photo looks like it was dug out a bit more today.  I would imagine that the new YMCA is getting that top floor ready for concrete before any new forms for pillars go up.  It also looks like they've smoothed out the wall a bit more next to the old YMCA on the third photo.

From Tuesday afternoon, the YMCA continues to rise but remember that hole in the other end of the site?  It's completely filled in today!  I'm sure there's a logical reason for it having to do with building a stable foundation for the tower but it was a bit disappointing.

This was a good explanation that I looked up, regarding digging the holes and filling them back in--

 

Digging out and then filling in before building a large or very tall structure serves several purposes. Firstly, it allows for the creation of a stable and level foundation for the structure. By excavating the soil and then filling it with compacted material, such as gravel or concrete, the foundation can better support the weight of the building and resist settling or shifting.

I think it's mostly forms and supplies for the project, it's been there for many weeks but seems to keep getting more stuff.  Some of it used to be on the street facing YMCA Way but they've moved it all over to Church Street.

It amazes me how construction crews seem to take over space outside their boundaries and treat it like a dump. That sidewalk does not look like they closed it for this project.

They've actually closed one lane of Church Street next to that sidewalk which you can't see from that photo.  It's packed full of supplies and traffic is terrible in that area.  The sidewalk is also closed and covered with equipment and supplies.

I see that they've put a road into the site where that hole used to be on your first photo!  At least the YMCA is going up quickly!

I feel like with the YMCA's crane location they will finish topping out that building before going vertical on the residential tower? Seems like they would need to dismantle that crane to begin on the other portion.

Getting in and out of the Y right now is a total PITA. The other end of YMCA is closed because they are working on the bridge so you have to navigate the Church Street end and share it with the valet in the residential building. I can tell the Y knows that people are frustrated because they are posting more timelines of where they are and what comes next.

It seems like it is taking forever, because we are seeing these every 2 or 3 day updates. It does seem like it's taken a long, long time to get this one up out of the ground. 

But, I think what appears to be happening, is they seem to want to get most of the exterior structure up for the new YMCA portion FIRST, then start the foundation piece for the 750 foot skyscraper. 

I've read they plan on completing the tower by 2026, and opening it in 2027, so that timeline tracks with their "sluggish" progress we see right now, I think. 

If we look at a timeline to get the foundation of this tower up to street level by end of 2024, then a timeline of roughly 1 new floor going up every 1-2 weeks should be the rhythm. 

So that would put the tower to 30-40 floors finished by 2025, and then the remaining by spring of 2026, with the tower finishing interiors by 2027.

I think we start to get concerned if this hole is the same by end of the summer, with no movement up at all.
