I think NB is referring to the photo of the Rutledge Flats in the previous post, but that's not Peabody Street. I think it's the LC Sobro (phase 1) building between 2nd/3rd and Elm/Ash.

Sorry about that guys.  I meant the one just as you come across the bridge on KVB.  It sits across from the amphitheater and is close to where the Hensler tower will go.  Sorry.

The several story brick structure is a city-run steam plant for downtown buildings.  It was built to replace the old thermal plant that was on the site where Ascend Amphitheater sits now.

Thanks, @markhollin.  I was on Google maps and saw all the fans on top and figured it had to be something different.  Cool how they made it look like an office building of sorts.

The owner of Peabody Corner Marketplace (.35 acre at 319 Peabody St.) which includes a Quiznos sandwich shop, has purchased the .61 acre plot directly to the south at 504 4th Ave. South for $8.51 million.  The previous owners had paid $650,000 for the land 15 years ago. There is currently a non-historical/nondescript 1 story cinder block building on the site that  is leased by United Credit reporting agency.

Yu-Jen Wang now owns nearly an acre of contiguous space in that very hot area of SoBro.  No word on his plans.  Directly to the east will be the Printing House Hotel, to the south is a loosely-proposed residential project by Douglas Development.

Its a miniature building, so that have tiny winy people that we can hardly see working on it, so that may be the backstory!

Pie Town Condos  will now be called Nell (6 stories, 78 units, 8,000 sq. ft. office space, 87 space garage) at 629-635 7th Ave. South has received a $33 million loan to start primary construction. KHRM SMA Funding, LLC is providing most of the loan.  Avenue Construction will be the contractor.

I actually miss taking lunch break at the Snodgras Tower.  I'm sure most of you know, but there is a public accessable walking track on the 28th floor (I think) with great views.  You do have to show a valid ID to enter.

Was looking at Google maps and then Smeags' Excellent development map.  Any thoughts or rumblings about that parking lot at 2nd and Church?  Depending on the zoning, that looks like prime real estate for a tall residential building with some ground level retail and eateries...

Sadly, as some of you know, the Woolworth on 5th Restaurant in the historic Woolworth Building at 221 5th Ave. (Rep. John Lewis Way) North had to close permanently due to financial losses during the pandemic. It was the site in 1961 of the first civil rights lunch counter sit-ins in the South. It will now be repurposed as Woolworth Theater, a 350 capacity event venue (with main floor and mezzanine seating) that will feature a regular theatrical concept in a state-of-the-art theater and lounge.  Chuck Wicks and 615 Ventures will be the developers. B2ad is the architect.

The original storefront is expected to pay reverence to the building’s historical significance as design and preservation are currently underway with Historical Association oversight. More details are expected at a later date.
