Portman Holdings of Atlanta is buying the 2.6 acre site just south of First Horizon Ballpark from the Ward Brothers for a residential project.  The Wards had been planning a development to be called The Derby which was to be 8 stories, with 300+ units and ground floor retail. 

Portman Holdings hopes to present more specific plans next month to the design review committee of the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency. (MDHA has jurisdiction over the project's design because the property sits within one of its redevelopment districts). Portman has retained Nashville's Ragan-Smith Associates Inc. to work on the project.

FINALLY. Real estate taxes from development will help metro retire the debt service on the bonds issued to construct the stadium. There should have been a timeline for the ward brothers to either develop or sell the site.

Broadstone Stockyards (2, 4, and 5 stories with 342 units and restored Stockyard Building) which just opened earlier this year, has been sold for $105 million to North Capitol Property. That works out to about $307,000 per unit...one of the higher rates in this market over the past several years.

Just noticed over the weekend that the Loft clothing store in the Gulch appears to have closed. Any idea if something else is going in that spot?

The Loft website confirms that this store is now closed.  So sad.  My wife and daughters found many good things there at good prices over the years.  I haven't heard of what might be going in there.
