A statement from the MLS regarding the Detroit plan (B) to use Ford Field as it's stadium...

Apparently, the Detroit boosters didn't involve MLS in their plans. Oops!

Also; the reporter who first reported Nashville has been selected, said on television today he stands behind his report.

Just one minor detail to be taken care of and we'll know more about that in a few hours.

I think his report is right. The catch is the stadium deal has to pass first, so it sent the wrong message on the ground in Nashville for those trying to get the thing approved. That's why everyone came out so strongly against it. To kill complacency. Team is ours if the stadium deal happens.

It would be unfortunate if Detroit lost the bid due to red tape. It checks all of the boxes otherwise.

But either way, it's looking good for Nashville!

What are the odds Metro will get out ahead of future traffic in this area and connect Wedgwood with Fesslers like was discussed years ago with the infrastructure money? Pipe dream? These areas are going to develop quite a bit in the decades to come and we're going to wish we had this connectivity.

Would it be something like this? There are all kinds of things (hills, railroad, creek, etc) in the way to make that happen. Just wondering what you thought?

Also WOO HOO for the approval, I'm excited, hopefully MLS makes a good choice. Would love to see the fairgrounds get some development and updates.

From most recent Nashville Next plan for Nashville (2015). Page 51  http://www.nashville.gov/Portals/0/SiteContent/Planning/docs/NashvilleNext/DraftPlan/next-vol3-South Nashville.pdf

The proposed route would one of two connector options. One from Wedgewood to Polk Avenue and another from intersection of Walsh & Nolensville (where your red line begins at N'ville) straight north along railroad row to Murfreesboro.

This would certainly be the right time to make the first phase of this, but I have little faith. I don't recall they've even been mentioned. Certainly traffic flow management needs to be in the equation.

Dubbed "University Row Connector" the proposal would be as essential for transit routes as automobile traffic.

From the plan: Access Nashville Street Project #26 University Row Connector–Connect Walsh Road as a 3-lane facility to Murfreesboro Pike to complete the University Connector mass transit concept, including sidewalks, bike lanes, and streetscaping. This is a Community Priority

MTA provides transit service linking Tennessee State University to Lipscomb University near the Mall at Green Hills. The University Row Connector transit concept is one of the first successful crosstown connectors, so transit riders do not have to transfer in downtown. The bus route uses 28th/31st Avenue, Blakemore Avenue, and Wedgewood Avenue. This project, as shown in two different alternatives, would connect Wedgwood Avenue to Murfreesboro Pike with a new street improving connectivity and creating direct transit service along the southern portion of the city to Trevecca Nazarene University. Refer to Figure SN-24

There is some interesting additional information about the Glenrose-Rosedale alignment at Nolensville Rd. a few hundred yards south of these proposals.

When Nashville started its Major League Soccer expansion push one year ago as an unabashed underdog, observers placed Music City at the bottom of 12 communities vying for teams.

But after Metro Council’s approval Tuesday of a public-private deal for a $275 million 27,500-seat stadium, Nashville’s stock has soared.

Comparing our bid with all the other cities at this juncture:

From the Cincinnati Inquirer...

Quote

During a Wednesday interview with Lance McAlisteron radio 700WLW, FC Cincinnati President and General Manager Jeff Berding said the club hoped to finalize a stadium financing plan in the coming days. ......

...then he said this...

........Nashville passed their (stadium plan) last night by a vote of 31-6, and I don't want to take a backseat to Nashville or anyone else. We're gonna show Cincinnati can get something like this done, and get it done the right way."

Looks like we are in the lead coming down the stretch with the finish line in sight.

So let's say 4 cities (Sacramento, Nashville, Cincy and Detroit) all had things ready to go come December.  What would keep MLS from accepting all 4 and having them all start up within a couple of years instead of 2 now and 2 later?  Is there a reason they're only going to go with 2 at first?

higher expansion fees for expansion teams #3 and #4.

Better stadium deals, better ownership groups, better markets materialize in 2018.

We want to be one of the first two, other cities could get their act together by next year making it more difficult for us to get a team, that said we have one of the strongest ownership groups in the league, in a hot city with what should be a knockout stadium at 250 million dollars.  Atlanta's success I think helps us a lot.
