The weirdest thing about this is the helicopter they're using. It looks to be an old (very, very old) Sikorsky H-19/S-55. They first went into service in the late 1940s and had been retired by the military by the late 1960s. It's not uncommon for old aircraft to continue on in commercial service, but that's pushing the limits of what you normally see, especially with helicopters.

Bus stop consolidation and improvements to accessibility and amenities can have a huge impact on service levels (e.g., faster service because a bus isn't stopping every 100 feet) and rideability (e.g., you're not standing on an unpaved roadside when it's pouring, getting splashed by cars going 75 mph), with minimal capital investment. It's a no-brainer.

Not super surprising...This is the second charter carrier to shut down recently (after Red Way). They have a weird business model that leverages charter carrier rules that allows them to operate like a scheduled operator, but still skirt rules on pilot training and qualifications. JSX appeared to be trying to focus on the luxury travel segment, marketing their flights more like private jet flights than an airline. EDIT: Actually, it looks like they actually stopped service back in January. They were around for even shorter of a time than I thought they'd be.

Nashville International Airport Development thread
Nathan_in_DC replied to Lexy's topic in Nashville
This is pure speculation, but it's entirely possible that was intentional. Smaller gate lounge areas means that passengers will be more inclined to utilize the concessions in the airport, waiting at a bar or visiting gift shops, instead of sitting in a cramped, crowded gate waiting area. -

I love the passthroughs and alleys created by this. Human-scale pedestrian spaces like that are great!- 444 replies

UP Technical Support Question
Nathan_in_DC replied to Nathan_in_DC's topic in Nashville Coffee House
@Neo Since the update it seems like most inline images are failing to load. This a known issue or something new? -
Man, that paints a pretty bleak picture. This sentence from the intro just illustrates how screwed up the housing market is at the moment: "... median sales price of all homes in Tennessee as of 2022 reached $325,000, an increase of 44% since 2019." That's absolutely unsustainable, I don't know how it's even possible short of a massive bubble that's about to collapse.

This just f***ing sucks. Seeing what otherwise would be awesome "missing middle" housing built, but then offered entirely to investors for STR is so frustrating. I know that this sort of thing is only a small part of the problem with housing affordability and availability in Nashville, but it's maddening.

KVB bridge is cleared and salted, Seigenthaler bridge is untouched...

Why is it up to WeGo to fund streetscape pedestrian improvements like crosswalks instead of NDOT/TDOT?
