New Franklin zoning ordinance moves forward.

Planapalooza wasn’t the end of the process. Citizens can stay involved by visiting the project’s website and providing additional input and checking on updates. TPUDC will be working with Franklin’s Planning and Sustainability to continue working on the new zoning ordinance, with plans to have it adopted by this fall. A draft is scheduled to be reviewed by the public later this spring, and there will be additional presentations at various neighborhood meetings and the like.

The meat of the exercise centered on six focus meetings: The Future of Cool Springs, Open Spaces & Natural Resources, Architecture & Design, Connectivity, and Housing & Neighborhoods.

To celebrate, I think I'll have an ICEE!  Haven't had one in years.

Well you may have to change your team loyalties now, or we may have to get the mods involved. We take our Middle Tennessee-based frozen fruit flavored beverages pretty seriously here.

No need to get the mods involved.  Allow me to bring peace to our thread.  Both of you can celebrate this announcement: Slush Puppie is owned by ICEE.

More details on the 102 acre redevelopment of the Tennessee Children’s Home property on the eastern corner of Main Street and Kedron Road in Spring Hill:

The project has a potential build-out period of a decade or more. Catalyst Design Group, has requested from the city a review of its planned development concept plan. Includes retail, office, restaurant, hotel, residential and assisted-living space, all proposed to be built on Main Street, was discussed Monday night during the Spring Hill Planning Commission’s non-voting meeting.

The first two phases would see the development of 132 single-family homes, 108 townhomes, 40 residential cottages, 315 apartment units and 100 assisted-living units.

The third phase would include the majority of the 130,000 square feet of retail and office space, 20,000 square feet of restaurant space and a hotel being designed in conjunction with the historic Ferguson Hall. This phase would be developed on the westernmost portion of the property, right up against Main Street.

“Ferguson Hall will be restored, and then it’d be encapsulated with a new building — collectively, it would be a hotel,” Fitterer said. “The lobby of the hotel would be Ferguson Hall, and then the rooms would be the new buildings.”

The fourth and final phase of the project would be developed just east of the third phase, and include another hotel of roughly the same size and capacity, 69,000 square feet of corporate office space, additional retail and restaurant space, and additional residential development.

I can't wait to see how these Lebanon folks will handle another one of them roundabout thangs! (They already have one on the town square)

A bit of local knowledge: The road mentioned in the article, Tater Peeler Road, was named so because legend says the road was so bumpy that if you had a wagon full of taters, they'd all be peeled by the time you got into town.
