It’s hard for me to have sympathy for businesses that run loud tours until 1 AM in the morning next to residential buildings, or by office buildings and schools at all hours of the day.
 

It’s gotten to where I can’t work from home as often as I’d like to because I run the risk of a loud vehicle blaring inappropriate for work music rolling by slowly while on the phone.

What's frustrating to me is that its all someone else's fault and someone else's responsibility to fix. Can't they be restricted to a small footprint, say within Demonbreun to Commerce and 1st to 7th? Cut the hours to only after 3pm and off the roads by 11pm? Tell them no music on the vehicles - at all - or the music gets turned off if they leave a certain footprint. Noise is a lot, if not most of it.  Tell them all that all this will be revisited if/when they collectively start being better players. As much as a lot of folks want to defend them, they are not helping our chances of getting that supertall building everyone wants. We don't need anything deterring future downtown residents or business relocations.

They need to limit the tours time between 6 and 10 during the week and 11 and 11 on the Fr. & St.  Limit the streets they are allowed to go down. Limit where they can and cannot play the music and how loud. Do not allow them to blast their horns other than for safety reasons.

MPD, needs to start making PD arrest, disorderly conduct arrest, writing tickets for the noise violations every time the screaming gets above a certain decibel past the allowed limit. All they would have to do is put two, 2 man teams on it for a few weekends and bring the mobile booking unit downtown and follow these rolling parties around. I will bet these operators will self police in a heartbeat.

They need to expand the pedestrian zone on Friday & Saturday nights and close Broadway to vehicular traffic as they have had to do because of the huge amount of pedestrian traffic and just make it permanent. Those bar owners can’t complain because they have all the business they can handle as it is.

The situation is out of hand now and I think that everyone knows it now. I am all for tourism, but the tourist can’t control the situation. Metro needs to control them and weed the bad actors out and it will take a heavy handed approach for a while. I think the State legislators need to spend an evening downtown to get the message and see the problem first hand and give Metro some leverage here. Most of these conservative lawmakers would probably be  shocked if they saw what the laws were causing.

I just bought three different headphones with mics in the hope of finding one that will keep the loud city noises (and my puppy's barking) out of my business conversations.

As I have said before. Downtown Nashville is not an amusement park, if this situation continues without intervention and nothing is done to control it. Nashville is going to get a new name for itself, and it won’t be good. Why does it seem like everything caters around the drinking party crowd, how bout as was mentioned before, a theater district, first class musical shows and the like. Some family entertainment would also be good. My family comes to visit from all over and they want to go Downtown, then once we get there they can’t wait to leave. After seeing and Hearing the drunken free for all , they turn to me and say “Wow, Nashville has a problem. I didn’t know it was so wild” not what they were expecting or wanting. It’s time to clean up this mess, or the city’s reputation is not going to be a good one

Your family goes to the street with the highest concentration of bars in the city and they don't expect it to be wild?

Why can't they just be allowed to go on the bridges from KVB and Woodland Street? They could do one big loop behind Nissan Stadium and 1st Avenue... barely would affect traffic and noise...

It seems, from pretty much every report that's out there, that the "wild" we are seeing is at a different level from 2019 and before. Perhaps it's partially the lack of more tame convention/business travelers or maybe our every increasing popularity, but this is being seen as worse (especially in the media, where like it or not, it counts). I think most of the frustration is with the moving entertainment folks. We expect Broadway to be raucous at a 10 out of 10, but not at Hume Fogg, not  really at the  new Grand Hyatt or in the Gulch. We need more rules and enforcement of those rules for the transportanment vehicles.

That's fair. I have also noticed that after everything opened back up from the initial wave of Covid people have gone nuts when going out.

Like inhibitions to the wind, party like the world is ending.

two weeks ago I was walking up Demonbreun after a concert at Bridgestone.   there was one of the party vehicles creeping down the street at idle speed,  blasting music so loud I started to move the other direction. then I realized it was EMPTY except for the driver.   So I pulled out my phone and shot a video with the intention to send it to the city council. but I totally forgot until just now.

This is what I’m referring to. Seems to be “different “ since the reopening and these “ vehicles “ are most of the problem. Before you could go downtown and even with all the bars , it was more contained in those establishments. Now the party seems to be everywhere

One fact to add to this conversation: Many of these party wagons drive with their load of tourists to Frugal McDougal's and let them go in to buy any liquor they want to consume on the ride.  Imagine two guys around 30 walking into McDougal's.  Guy 1: "When I was in college, I could drink 12 beers in two hours."  Guy 2: "I could, too.  Want to have a contest?"  Guy 1: "You're gonna lose."  Guy 2: "Let's buy a 18 each and see how far we get."  Guy 1: "Great idea.  Let's go."  And then they get wasted on the party wagon and have extra beers left over to force others to consume.  And no local bars make any money.  In fact, these people are so wasted, they can't spend any other money in Nashville because they are so hung over.  And no bartender is there to say when they've had enough.  If they go to Lower Broadway, they are already so wasted that it's easy to slip into one bar, have a couple of shots, and start pushing somebody.  This situation is just so bad for them, for their group, for our economy, and for everyone who is considering a trip to Nashville.  There is no moderation here.  No one is there to keep them from destroying themselves and others.

I’m so sorry to hear this! Criminal activity is really out of control all over the city, but seems particularly bad in and around the core. Hope you are soon well from the physical damage, but I’m sure the psychological trauma is more difficult to mend. My best wishes to you for comfort and healing!

Who approved the license for this? And what on earth were they thinking? Before, people with families saw pedal taverns and thought they were cute; now they see this rolling down the street and run

Devastating-I hope and pray for a full recovery.

I've been watching ZPierre's live feeds from Broadway and it seems a lot worse from just a couple of years ago and it isn't just the party trucks.

I may be wrong but it all seems more menacing and out of control and I'm not sure why that is.

If anyone has any ideas about it please share them with us.

I'm sorry guys for this news I hope I truly recover I go to the doctor Monday I've lost hearing in my right ear and some vision in my left eyes. I just don't under how evil people can be. I was just walking back to my car. Please be careful my friends I love you guys. I don't want anyone to get hurt like myself.

Sorry to hear about this Chris! Stuff like this really upsets me. I use to walk around and take pictures at night downtown but no more. After seeing the trashy people that are coming to downtown now and what MPD is allowing to take place, I don’t feel safe coming downtown after dark.

Chris, I would reach out to Freddie since you live in the district and relate what happened to you and express you outrage. It’s about time we take our streets back from the street thugs that seem to be roaming around. I think a lot of these folks are just out of town drunk hellions that are out of control. MPD has not got a handle on the situation and they are playing with the kid gloves on and really need to enforce the laws on the books. This is coming from the chief and the mayor not to piss of the tourist I will bet, but this needs to be brought into the light. The homeless guy that was attacked, the guy from Florida we heard about, but how many like you have we not heard about.

Sounds like someone needs to take a deep dive into MPD crime reports and expose them to the public.

Again, I am really sorry to hear about this and pray for a speedy recovery .

You are wrong by 20 tons. I see people in their 80s, 70s, 60s, 50s, 40s, 30s, and 20s smiling, listening to music, and having a good time. Where you're getting menacing and out of control, who knows?
