Queensbridge Collective - 1 tower, maybe 2

I'm going Coastal so I'll wait until is completed to state the height.  All indications are higher than 500 but less than 600.  How come every building announced in Nashville can have an exact height and we are always guessing here like with DEP.

goettschpartners  Yesterday, GP celebrated the official groundbreaking of @queensbridgecollective, the firm’s first project in Charlotte, North Carolina. Led by @riverside.chi, the nearly 2,000,000-square-foot mixed-use complex includes a 42-story residential tower with 409 units, and a 32-story office tower of approximately 600,000 rentable square feet. The cumulative project integrates nearly 30,000 square feet of retail and more than 90,000 square feet of indoor-outdoor amenity space, along with approximately 1,600 parking spaces. Set to transform the area linking the city’s Uptown and South End neighborhoods, the project is expected to be completed in mid-2025.

Does Charlotte not have a design & review board that approves projects where the city posts pdf files on the their website showing the height of them?

No, I don't believe so. That was one cool thing about Seattle's permit process, the general public could go online and see all the PDF submissions for every single new building.

Thanks and that’s unfortunate. It’s the same way here in Greenville as in Seattle. Everything proposed downtown goes through the DRB and all aspects of the project including the proposed height gets posted in a pdf file on the city’s website for the general public to see. Sad and crazy the City of Charlotte doesn’t do that especially in the year 2023. Where’s the transparency?

I'm actually pretty on-the-fence about whether design review boards are a good thing, there have been a lot of times in Seattle where really cool parts of a building get removed or a building gets tied up for months because of, like, brick color or something. But I do wish the public had a chance to see all the permit documents for major new builds here.

When the state did away with aesthetic review, people stopped posting elevations.

The state made DRB illegal.

Oh, I didn't realize that. OF COURSE the state decided to make a state-wide rule that should have been left to local jurisdictions.

After 2010, the State of NC passed quite a few laws that should have been left up to local jurisdictions. A certain political party doesn't quite believe in small government anymore.

Looks like the office tower is now shorter than the residential tower? That's not totally unexpected in this economy though

Yes they are now saying 35 floors about 600,000 sq ft but that is reflective of the office market right now. I think we will be about to count the number of new office buildings starting on 1/2 of one hand.   everything is about do you have anchor tenant?

I have hope this one will start:

If I were a betting man I would bet an office building or two (maybe not "towers") will be announced near/around the Pearl District.

If I were a betting man I would bet an office building or two (maybe not "towers") will be announced near/around the Pearl District.   Medical office buildings always could pop up.  I think the Pearl first 2 towers will get further along before anything else starts.

Sadly, I wonder if that means it won't break 500ft. I know that's a vanity height we all like to see, but I'd be upset to see it missed here.

I think it will be around 500 or a little more.  11 floors are ground floor retail or parking podium then the office floors start.

Don’t know if this was mentioned but this will officially be the tallest residential building in the entire city passing The Vue.
