We could possibly end up with another Church St garage/Magic Entertainment Complex or Pizzuti block style long term empty lot eyesore in the middle of downtown again if this project falls through and the economy doesn't pick up any time soon. 

I'm always for holding off on demo'ing anything until the last minute.

I agree in general but that ballroom blocks access for walking along the western side of the rail tracks from Church to South.

I'm not one for more government intrusion in private projects...but...I would be for a statute or code stating something like...demo can't occur until all construction related entities are lined up, money is given, permits are issued, etc, etc...  I've complained about this to Spenser regarding what went down in Daytona during the boom/bust...

And I  would make the permits contingent on them discovering unforeseen things in the demo...because...this whole demo to empty lot trend is just ridiculous...

I don’t know if this constitutes as progress, but, they seem to be covering up the vents and A/C units. Anyone know why they would do this? They’re also only doing it on the ballroom.

Probably abatement.  Although I don't think the ballroom is old enough for asbestos.

...not so sure they got one of those when they demo'ed Jaymont Block.  There were rats everywhere.  it was ridiculous.

I was working on Pine right there.  The Thai place and other restaurants got rat attacked; so did our office and others.
