Another one that I’m glad to see get developed but I’m sad to see go. A few of my friends had studios in that building and it was great for artists and small businesses. The Jazz workshop is a Nashville gem, too. I really hope it’s able to reopen somewhere else.

There is so much potential for this site.  Besides the structures, the open fields in the upper right of the aerial shot below could be part of some potent green space for that area of Germantown.  One proposal several years ago included a small outdoor amphitheater bordering on the river with beautiful views of downtown and the water looking southward.  If retained in future designs, that would be very cool.

A 25 unit townhome project is being planned for a 1.18 acre site at 1825-1835 Third Ave. North in Salemtown, on the SW corner of 3rd AVe. North and Coffee St.  There will be a Jan. 24, 2018 Metro Planning Commission meeting for approval.  No renderings released yet.

The Circle South developers have enlisted Ragan-Smith Partners to work with Metro on abandoning Alley N. 142 that runs north-south from Drexel Ave. to Lea Ave. at a Han, 14, 2019 meeting.  They are seeking to consolidate all their holdings (including the just-purchased small sliver at corner of Lea and Lafayette).  Rumors still abound that they are looking at a 20 story-range hotel.

I had not seen any renderings for this one (may have been posted). So found this. I guess all 11 buildings will look like this. Meh!! Pretty sure Embrey did the Carillon too, which this reminds me of. The overall effect will depend on where the parking is placed (inside or outside the buildings).

What was originally slated as Harry O's Steak House is now Kid Rock's Big Ass Honky Tonk Rock 'n' Roll Steak House at 211 Broadway.  The 5 story structure is now open.

A 'steak' house!? 

A few simple rules. I never eat steak at a place that...

1) Has ATMs in the lobby

2) Has the word "ass" in the name

3) Has tables bolted to the floor (you never know when a brawl will break out)

4) Was designed to look like a Daytona Beach dive before it even opened... Plywood Chic!

* I'm not sure about the P-word on the wall, as far as "rules" go

I dropped into this "honky tonk" last weekend when we were in town for the holidays. It looks like they ran out of money before the interior was finished. The Luke Bryan- and Jason Aldean-branded mega-bars across the street were far more impressive. Doubt most people really care though--they all have live music and serve alcohol by the gallon.

I can not imagine the Moxy Hotel developers are happy about this turn of events.....FGL on one side an Kid Rick on 2 others..... or maybe they share the same clientele.
