A strange twist on a cliche design, although I like the street level retail.  He really ought to get the old CC site underway before biting off any more projects.  Is that on the site that was originally proposed for a 12-story residential building?

But what you don't know is that if you pull that "pop top" thing down, there is a center section of the building that rises to over 700', making it the tallest building in Nashville.

I thought maybe it shoots out string confetti.

Another inward facing fortress that greets the general public with a giant garage door.  Great way to build a community.

In fairness to the developers, there is not an ally that runs in the rear and the site is very tight, so I don't think they have much of a choice in the matter, but I do feel your pain.

I think there is a bit of access in the rear but I believe that would require a right of way issue with an adjacent property owner.

I have to say the eaves/soffits and the arched windows and openings are vastly more appealing to me than another gray and tan industrial pile of rectangles.  It may not evoke the local architectural vernacular, but then again I'm not sure we have one.  However I have to wait to see the actual landscaping--sans the moderate sized trees in the illo, it may just come off as another naked box anyway.

Chicago group buys 100+ year-old house in Midtown, has plans for the Hopsmith Tavern bar/restaurant at 1903 Division Street. They will incorporate an addition into the 2-story, 4,500 sq. ft. home (for many years utilized as an office). Rendering below.
