Couldn't agree more.  This also eats up what is currently a parking lot.  No demolition required.  What a phenomenal net gain for the neighborhood in terms of retail offerings, residential units, and neighborhood expanding street frontage.  I love this project!  Manuel Zeitlin architects with yet another winner.

Hyatt House to begin work on Midtown hotel at NW corner of Hayes and 21st Avenue by second quarter of 2017 (not sure if that means demo begins on existing office building, or actual construction), and opening by first quarter of 2019.  199 rooms...probably in the 14-story range.  No official rendering released yet.

Forgive me for asking you to correct what it is very likely operator error on my part, but when I look at the NE corner of Hayes and 21st in street view it looks to be just a parking garage.  What am I missing?

But I'm glad they're focusing on centennial park. Such a draw for our city, like our mini central park.

Does anyone have any idea what the buildings that were erected in Centennial Park for the exposition were built from?  Concrete, stone?  I'm just trying to understand why it appears so much effort was put into the buildings only to have them torn down?  I've always felt the Pyramid should have been rebuilt as well, but for me it would have been better on the opposite side the lake to the north (the current garden area) so it not be too close to the Parthenon.  Allowing both to have their views across the lake without obstructing the other.

I believe they were all wood and plaster. Even the original Parthenon structure was built as a temporary exposition building.

As Don pointed out, they were indeed built to be just temporary structures, as so many exposition buildings around the country tended to be. They would've been substantially more expensive to construct had they been meant as permanent. It's heartbreaking to see pics of those other expos (such as Chicago's 1893 Columbian Exposition) with such magnificent buildings, but realize with one good punch, you'd could put your fist through a "solid" wall.

A Midtown building slated to be reinvented, likely with a restaurant, is set for an interior update. Located at 1921 Broadway, the structure was once a home.

Redondo Beach, California-based Wehrly Holdings LLC paid $1.83 million for the 4,900-square-foot in February. The permit is valued at $115,000.

The old 9-story 50 Music Square West building looks like it will either be extensively remodeled or demolished.  I'm guessing demolished.  It's Nashville.gov's development tracker now.  They're applying for an 11-story hotel w/ restaurant.
