No, because you can't have a 345ft unsupported crane in the air. That is unless you're into lawsuits and fatalities.

The crane will grow itself when time comes for that. Under the cab there's a hydraulic system that will raise the cab and boom while the boom itself lifts and slides another section into place.

No, I think SoBro will be about halfway between Encore and Pinnacle in height.

Correct. They will add segments when the building gets closer to the top of the crane. They added one small segment this morning.

I think I've mentioned this before but there appears to be a camera on the Pinaccle pointed down at the SoBro site. Hopefully there will be a public web cam. Otherwise I can provide shots too.

I Think the camera belongs to Fox 17. They have shots from high looking down Demonbreun. If it's not them, then one of the other TV stations.

Spoke with someone working with McHugh and the reason the crane is taller than what is normal at this stage, which it is by a good margin, is so it can clear over Encore's roofline, mostly as a safety measure for when it has to swing over 3rd Ave to grab stuff staged there at times.

I know that the Hilton Garden Inn isn't the most spectacular building in the world, but it does make quite an impact coming across the bridge.  Can't wait to see that view 3 years from now!

I think that the HGI looks pretty good.  I like the brick cladding in particular.  That seems to go along with the brick on the Bell Tower building and the brick from the Hampton Inn across the street.  Not to mention the brick apartent/condo buildings.  Nashville doesn't have a lot of brick, and what there is I often find lacking.  I'm OK with the HGI where it is.

Agree with bwithers1.  For what it is and where it's at, I don't think it's all that bad. I happen to like the brick facade as well.

Believe it or not, excavation is still going on, and they are constantly pumping out ground water. Water looked to be 2 feet deep in the northeast corner. Workers were wading around in wading boots! Water looked to be knee high!

I've noticed that, too, and it seems strange that there would still be so much water when it hasn't rained in some time.   I guess it's just that it's a low area and the ground surface is very close to the water table.

The ground around Nashville is just about completely saturated so the water collects where it can by seepage through our porous bedrock, obviously this is a good case where they're pretty much at water table in that part of downtown.

There are a couple of other projects that had to have some ground water remediation done.  One is the German-town Co-Housing project and the other is 909 Rosa Parks. Both of these had surprises in store when they started digging.

If I remember right, The Pinnacle had some hefty water issues as well. Flood plain soil just holds water like a sponge.
