I think the Westmont is probably one of the better building designs I have seen in a while. Too bad its two blocks off of a main street.

Here is an updated rendering of the 5th and Garfield project under construction.

Oh, now that's cool. I'd like to see more development like that in and around historic neighborhoods where they need small pockets of infill.

There is an apartment complex there from the 1960s called Westmont. Apparently, the developer will keep the name for this tear-down-rebuild project.

It reminds me a bit of a condo building here in Chattanooga called the Bridgeview...

Here is William's piece from the Post http://nashvillepost.com/news/2012/11/14/construction_of_west_end_park_apartment_building_slated_for_mid_2013

So here is a rendering of the Homewood on West End across from Vandy. J.R. mentions that it is outdated now that the building will have 7 floors and not 8. But I also have not heard whether it will be built in 2 phases as originally announced, or if the whole building is under construction. Anyone know?

Buried in an electronic document on the Metro Government website devoted to proposed development (maps.nashville.gov/spsearch for those of you who enjoy such sites) is this rendering of the under-construction Homewood Suites, now rising at 24th and West End avenues across from Vanderbilt University.

Interesting that this appears just two days after barakat posts this link on our website. Coincidence? :)

Yeah, personally I don't like the stuff. It can retain moisture and cause extensive damage to a structure.

Independent surveys estimate that 80-90% of buildings with EIFS will experience "significant moisture damage". Although, there is apparently a new form of it with a vapor barrier.

I think they would do better with a product like GFRC on this particular building.

As long as the EIFS does not touch the ground, it will be all right. Those buildings that got moisture/rot were actually built in such a way that the siding wicked moisture out of the ground. I had to learn a lot about EIFS when I bought my house last year.
