And you would think grown ups could compartmentalize their discussion threads.  And you would think they would be able to talk about development, and even the relationship between government and development, without it constantly devolving into dueling manifestos. I believe this forum has a policy that side discussions like that should be taken to the coffee shop; doesn't seem like too much to ask of grown ups.

I'd be happy to reply, but that would then belong in the coffee house, as should the above. <_<

Is this a hint that I should post my pictures on this thread instead of the individual project thread??? lol

Please God no. Individual threads make tracking progress so much easier.

In fact, I would argue that there should be more policing of this thread and redirecting of specific project photos back to their respective threads.

^^I can just picture those two towers with the 5* hotel right there in front of Pinnacle.  I sure hope that happens!

That's a pretty similar vantage as the Second Ave. Partners rendering. Pinnacle would completely obscured in that view. Hope to see that sight in person soon.

I'm surprised that it makes financial sense in any part of the city to tear down a building of that size and rebuild from scratch, rather than to sell it and build elsewhere, or simply update the interior.

That building must look really rough on the inside...

It likely was built on the cheap ("surprising"), being a Metro structure, particularly at the period if construction.  You get out what you put into it, and with the lowest bids, it shows.  Also based on bids at that time of conception were the specifications of what was requested, and the projected lifespan, not to mention the then-provisions for financing that thing.  I can understand the public outcry as instrumental in the decision to not sell and build elsewhere, and with the way the Metro area is laid out geographiclly, downtown is still the best compromise of location choice, since it is highly unlikely that anywhere else in the core would accept a relocation, best suited for the facility's needs.
