Nashville International Airport Development thread

A three-judge state court panel on Monday sided — temporarily at least — with a new state-appointed board overseeing the Nashville International Airport.

After a Friday hearing, the panel denied Metro’s request for a temporary restraining order related to a new state law that went into effect July 1 and gave state leaders the majority of appointments to the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority, formerly controlled by mayoral appointees.

The court panel did not rule on the merits of the case and cautioned “the parties as well as the public that nothing in this order should be construed as indicative of our view of the merits of Metro’s constitutional claims.” The panel added that Metro should have sued sooner so that the court could have considered temporary relief before the new board was seated last month.

Additional info:

Since then, it's grown to operate more flights and serve more air Passengers as the largest carrier at BNA, offering up to 166 departures a day to 57 cities nonstop, and currently housing nearly 1,000 Southwest Employees. To support the carrier's commitment to Nashville, the airline is striving to add four gates in the fourth quarter of 2023 to support its operation with a goal of 20 gates total by the end of the year to serve future Customers flying in and out of Nashville.

I was asleep at the wheel last night, and this did not even register a ding in my mind when I read it. If you see something like this from now own, please contact me directly. I sort of just go through the motions when I read the board anymore. I had a long day yesterday and was still tired from my trip to Huntsville and mowing 3 acres plus tree trimming.

This is major news at BNA. Hardly any local news coverage.

Southwest announced it at a party at 6:30 PM with nothing but a news release. The governor posted about it today, but of course didn’t say anything about it coming to Nashville, and didn’t tag the BNA twitter account. He’s still unbelievably jilted over Metro Council saying “no” to the RNC.

They ought to put a 2nd terminal where the old terminal was up until 1987 and have Embraer and FEDEX relocate towards the cargo terminal on that side.

That would prevent traffic overcrowding at the existing terminal and you would have plenty of space for expansion on the Briley Parkway side.

The fact they are saying it will require transit or an APM is exciting. Maybe that could lead to better connections within terminals as well. And hopefully it could foster a transit line connection to downtown or to the proposed BNA Amtrak station.

Well I just looked at the image and saw that the APM is going down to Murfreesboro Pike so hopefully that’s a good sign of things to come!

I see what you mean. If it's going in that direction, then it will be underground
