  1. Yes , all of that property is owned by St. Thomas and plans are coming soon as I understand from a senior manager there. Whether its more medical offices or a mix of that and residential, they will further enhance the area along Richland Creek and the railroad tracks behind. Intend to tie that area into the Richland Creek Greenway which will also be part of the development going in where Belle Meade Plaza is today.....it will really make that Greenway significantly larger especially running along a very scenic creek.
  2. I was recently in the Oslo Opera House and it is magnificent...the ramps you see are heavily used by the public for sun bathing/picnics etc and the building is always open for use of the restrooms. I would hope the new TPAC could be something like this or at least unique.
  3. Flew into BNA last night around 6 pm and the traffic in the pick up lanes was a total cluster f__-k! There are four lanes of pick up traffic outside baggage claim, then four lanes on the upper level for dropping passengers off.....each of the four lanes merges into two on each level, then those two lanes on each level, merge into two. It took my ride one solid hour after arriving to finally pick me up and another hour to get to Green Hills once I was in the car!!!! The planning on this part is a complete disaster with little apparently that can be easily fixed. The new terminal is beautiful, it appeared each restaurant was packed to capacity on D concourse and in the main terminal, but the ingress and egress is about as poorly planned as can be.
  4. OK, my two cents...find it interesting and somewhat puzzling the seeming fascination with IKEA. Its very cheap furniture and I totally realize there is a market for it, but from a priority standpoint, it would be VERY low on my list. Again, just my two cents for what it is worth.
  5. I'm happy for the growth and the look of the new terminal, BUT the departure drop off and the arrival pick up is completely a disaster. Twice in the last month I've taken family and the exit off I-40 is backed up to near the new Ferrari dealership and literally inches toward the drop off point. To make it even worse, more and more people are picking up deplaning guests in the departure level which makes it even worse instead of the second level arrival area. The new cell waiting area is off Murfreesboro Rd near the old Genesco building and this past Thursday after a near 25 minute ordeal to drop off family after hitting the back up on I-40, I finally went toward Murfreesboro Rd to avoid I-40 and passed the rather large cell phone waiting area....THREE cars were there on an incredibly busy Thursday. Based on the current structure I really don't see a way to correct this issue as the parking garages and terminal have somewhat hemmed in the lanes to departure and arrivals. What a mess!!!
  6. Flew in last night from Florida, the traffic into the terminal was so backed up, my ride could not get through and had to exit at Old Hickory and turn around. The drop off and pick up areas are poorly planned and with the hotel and garages, not sure how it can be fixed easily. The ring road around the garages into the drop off and pick up area were bumper to bumper and barely moved at all.
  7. It is my understanding from an administrator at St. Thomas is they are taking over much of that area up to the Publix shopping center. Plans include a connection and expansion to the Richland Creek Greenway and then some additions to the hospital long range.
  8. I'm a PSL and season ticket holder and we just got the prices for the PSL's and season tickets in the new stadium and they are EXTREMELY high. My season tickets in the current stadium are $690 (40 yard line mid upper deck) and a similar seat in the new stadium would be close to triple that. My PSL was $1200 in 1999 and the PSL for this would be near $4000 . I've sat with many of the same fans for 25 years and have no doubt that many of them will not be able to afford the new stadium. It will be interesting to see how it goes, plus we don't have a firm answer on how much credit we will get for our current PSL'.s. Will try and find the schedule and post, seemed to have deleted it as I was in shock.
  9. It is my understanding that the area near the new State Library and Archives near Bicentennial Mall is also under consideration, close to downtown and parking available most of the time near the Sounds stadium. Restaurants and walking distance from downtown make this a possibility. New mayor will weigh in as well as who might be a donor large enough to have it named for them.
  10. I was just in Charlotte and was super impressed with the many many impressive condo's and apartments that were far more substantial looking and architecturally attractive than what I see here. My friends are in Myers Park and it is quite impressive. The Mint Museum and Knight Theater are great as well.
  11. I can't believe they got by with this, it looks like a suburban office building, not residential. Don't disagree, but they are under going a massive renovation that from what i have heard resulted in a huge assessment from the owners. Needed but many are VERY unhappy.
  12. Well, I'm sure with three congressmen now representing Davidson County, the grant will be easily approved....he says sarcastically.
  13. Wish they had left off the Tennessee and just had Nashville!!!
  14. I think one of them was actually owned by Loretta Lynn and was her in town hideaway, very very plain outside but apparently very very well done inside.
  15. The new Delta Sky Club is open ( and may have been open for a while) and is very very nice. It is large with very upscale finishes and with a good variety of food and drinks. Thhe staff there was very professional and helpful.
  16. I hate to hear that about "FlatIron as it was always good and had reasonable prices. I will pay what seems to now be the new norm in Nashville, entrees in the $35 to $55 but it was great to have a place to sit down, with a drink and pay under $25 for a good entree. Parking may have been the downfall.
  17. I just spent a week in Washington DC and while they have a height limitation in the downtown core, they have some outstanding architecture. If I were wanting to build a 25-50 story building and wanted more than a glass box, I'd send my architect there to study a large number of ideas to break up a glass box. I know that added granite panels, steel grating, or even pressed concrete adds cost but even adding some of the details and materials I saw there would create a more balanced and beautiful building.
  18. I understand from a member of the Metro Arts Commission that the A T & T building will have a mural that will incorporate an historical view of the area. I have not seen the proposal but understand from this member that she is very excited and feels will be well received instead of the plain red exterior that was there.
  19. With the MASSIVE amount of new apartments, two homes built on what was one all over the city, it is impossible to believe we lost population. I do understand that a huge amount of investment firms have bought any and everything they can to rent as short term but still seems hard to imagine a loss and not a reasonable gain.
  20. Very likely for his daughter who teaches at Vanderbilt, or after last nights embarrassing loss maybe he knows something about his status at KY.
  21. The Listening Room is a great place for live music, well designed and great acoustics in my opinion.
