Repurposed/revitalized historical buildings in Nashville

Built in 1823 , the Franklin Masonic Hall is slated to become a museum and cultural center to help interpret Franklin's history.  When it was constructed, it was the tallest building west of the Appalachian Mountains on the continent.

I might have to take issue with that assumption that is was the first three story building in Tennessee as the Netherland Inn in Kingsport was built in 1802. Maybe this was the first three story brick structure.

305 Church St. was built in 1892, covering 3 stories.  It currently houses Church Street Lofts.

The Tin Angel restaurant has inhabited the 1 story brick storefront at 3201 West End Ave. for several decades.  Originally built in 1932, it inhabits about 4,100 sq. ft. of space.  This week, the owners have decided to retire, and have sold the space to another restauranteur who has plans to make some slight changes and rename the space.

The southern building of what was once Corner Music at 2709 12th Ave. South has been repurposed as Madewell Denim Edit, which opened a few days ago.  The building covers about 2,000 sq. ft. and was built in 1925.  The structure next door at 2707 will become a Marine Layer store and should open in April.

There was a brief dust up when someone on NextDoor posted that the mural on the side of this building was painted over. When it was posted that a new mural is coming the conversation turned to a fight over the beauty and appropriateness of murals in general, with each side insulting the other. Thankfully the initial poster deleted the whole thing.

Built in the 1920s, 231 5th Ave. North is 4 stories tall, and currently houses Art Avenue Lofts.

The one story brick storefront at 2015 8th Ave. South covers 8,060 sq. ft., and was built in 1935.  It has been the home of 8th Ave. South Antiques for several decades.

Built in 1960, The Estate of Cherokee Dock at 175 Cherokee Dock in Lebanon has been transformed into an events center.

1217 16th Ave. South was built in 1920 and covers 3,244 sq. ft. in its 3 stories.  It is currently home to Digital Audio Post and Exit Realty.

2206 8th Ave. South covers 3,816 sq. ft. in its 2 stories, and was built in 1922.  It is currently home to Urban Juicer.

601 Overton in The Gulch is a one story brick structure covering 11,060 sq. ft. that was originally built as a warehouse.  It is now the home of the brand new Patagonia store.

1207 16th Ave. South was built in 1928, and has 4,207 sq. ft. of space in its 2 stories.  It currently houses MV2 Entertainment.

Built in 1936, The Kress Building at 239 5th Ave. North is now made up of loft residential units.

The i story brick storefront at 2019 8th Ave. South covers 7,000 sq. ft. and was built in 1925. It currently is home to Karmal Skillington.

29 Music Square East was built in 1900 and consists of 3 stories covering 6,815 sq. ft. It is currently home to BMG Rights Management.
