Repurposed/revitalized historical buildings in Nashville

Drift Hotel at 10 Interstate Drive is the complete reinvention of the former Stadium Inn (circa 1955).  It features 107 rooms, and has been open for two weeks.  57% occupancy rate so far.

I really don't understand why anybody would pour money into renovating that building... but hey, it looks like they did about as good a job as one could do!  Not too shabby on the inside!

Agreed! Although I'm glad it's been 'purdied up'. It was such an eyesore and magnet for trouble. Isn't there another run-down hotel a block or two away.

The most sustainable building is the one you do not build. In this case, it is the one that was not torn down only to be rebuilt. Great job by the developer/design team/builder for executing this project. Now let's see what goes up around it.

I think for a lot of us it is just the memory of the place that gives us the heebie jeebies as we know what the place was.

2019 8th Ave. South covers 4,000 sq. ft. over its single floor and was built in 1920.  It will now become the Lab at Zanies, a 100 seat adjoining venue to the comedy club next door.  

It will host a variety of shows, from improv to sketch comedy to one-man performances.

The Lab will offer comedy and improv classes for both those looking to hone their craft and companies looking for a team-building exercise.

The Lab will serve an upscale food and beverage menu.

Programming kicks off April 12 with the Nashville Comedy Festival.

329 Peachtree St. covers 1,410 sq. ft. over its single floor and was built in 1940.  It is now home to Peachtree Neighborhood Grill.

629 3rd Ave. South covers 5,000 sq. ft.  over its 2 floors and was orignally built as a church in 1860.  It will now become a hookah bar and lounge of unknown name. Treg Warner is the owner/developer of the site, having paid $175,000 for it in 1994.   The updated design will be by Daniels Chandler architects. The construction value is estimated to be $280,000.

2521 Gallatin Ave. (1 story, circa 1920) conversion to Chicago's Home of Chicken and Waffles is nearing completion.

1112 Woodland St. covers 2,142 sq. ft. over its 2 floors and was built in 1907.  It is now home to Van Gogh's Wine Bar.

Rehabbing for office use. Calvert Group is relocating from their office on Rosa Parks to this location. Nashville Post article.

45 Hermitage Ave. covers 1,450 sq. ft. over its single floor and was built in 1950 as a service station.  It was later converted to Hermiage Cafe.  It is now being reimagined as Mr. J's Original (burgers and ice cream).  Work is underway.
