Repurposed/revitalized historical buildings in Nashville

1710 Grand Ave. covers 2 stories and 3,644 sq. ft. And was built in 1904.  It is currently home to half a dozen music businesses.

1234 17th Ave. South was built in 1920 and covers 1,616 sq. ft.  It is currently home to Larry Wood and Associates Law Firm.

The 9,800 sq. ft., 2 story block building at 926 Main in East Nashville has served many purposes since it was built in 1954. It is now being converted into Hawkers Asian Street Fare restaurant, after being Family Wash music club for several years.  An additional 760 sq. ft. patio is part of the mix.

1802 Grand Ave. is 2 stories tall, and with some additions since it was built in 1920, it covers 3,200 sq. ft. Round Hill Music is the primary tenant at this point.

Belair Mansion, located at Lebanon Pike and Briley Parkway, is nearing the end of a long renovation. Photos attached are from their Facebook page, along with this post from the owners.

We should be open this summer and it could be as soon as 4 weeks, but construction and related government interactions in Davidson County these days is difficult. They probably expect to be able to charge more for a suite with a modern bathroom...than with an OUTHOUSE! (or a chamber pot)

As a second, and more serious response to your comment, there is another building on the property (a mid century ranch style house) and the modern white & blue bathroom might be in one of the suites in that structure.

121 A 12th Ave. North was built in 1914, covering around 2,400 sq. ft. in 2 stories.  It is currently home to Mockingbird restaurant.

1012 Fatherland is a brick storefront that was built in 1930 that covers 11,982 sq. ft.  Currently houses Wax Nashville and a bakery, among others.

1031 17th Ave. South is a 2 story house built in 1925 that covers 3,611 sq. ft, and includes around a handful of small music-related businesses.

The rebuild of 900 Main Street (featured previously on this thread Aug. 22, 2018) is finished and open. The one-time mattress factory was built in 1935 and was one story tall covering 18,000 sq. ft.  The two upper floors were added in the past year., and it is now set up for office space.

Terrific feature in today's Tennessean about the repurposing of the May Hosiery campus.  Lots of history, including documentary clips.  I never knew that this was the first factory with air conditioning, and that the "Meat & 3" concept started in their dining hall.  At it's peak, there were 1,000 people making socks.

2038 Greenwood was a former laundromat covering 4,086 sq. ft. built 1948 that currently houses Vinyl Tap.

413 Houston covers 1,272 sq. ft., and was built in 1982.  It has been converted from a small industrial building to the Never Never dive bar.

1201 Porter Rd. covers 2,109 sq. ft. and was built in 1959.  It is now home to Southern Grist Brewing Company.

Ocean Way Studio (former 2 story church at 1200 17th Ave. South with 19,608 sq. ft. built in 1910) undergoing some exterior masonry upkeep.

The refurbishment of the onetime gas station/garage (circa 1930's) at Chestnut St. and CSX tracks (just east of May Hosiery) for a new restaurant/bar is nearing completion.

918 Woodland covers 2,316 sq. ft. and was built in 1961.  Currently is home to Honeytree Meadery.

510 Merritt St. is a one story warehouse built in 1972 covering  45,000 sq. ft. It is being repurposed as the new home for the Nashville Design Collective.

Plans have been released for the conversion of the 5 acre O'More College of Design campus (with some structures up to 150 years old) in Franklin.  It will become known as Franklin Grove and Garden Estates, a preservation project taken on by the Heritage Foundation of Williamson County to restore the property and improve the grounds.
