question: what is the that big vacant tract of land in the 4th photo right next to the Fort?  seems underutilized.

That's the site of the former Nashville Sounds (minor league baseball) stadium, Herschel Greer Stadium. Closed in 2014, while the new stadium by Bicentennial opened in 2015. The site is included in a future redevelopment of Fort Negley Park, which is currently in the planning stage.

The Southend comparison is nice, I really enjoyed that area when I was last over there. If only we could be so lucky as to emulate the light rail running north into downtown...

Wedgewood Houston area from the ground and from Fort Negley.  Today.  This area is booming like a combo of Southend and NoDa in Charlotte.  Gritty, old buildings, new buildings, lots of apartments being built.  Infill townhomes.  (Photo overload ahead)  Like the renovated May Hosiery Mill makes me feel like home as most of the old textile mills are all renovated in Charlotte to new uses.  WeHo!

Love that huge guitar at Nashville Warehouse Company

That’s the old Sounds stadium site. There was a development proposed there before Covid that ended up getting shot down. It’s now been sitting like that for years while they try to raise money to turn it into park space.

Gotcha I was wondering.  I saw a run down parking lot and I thought this would be good for something.  Hopefully that park addition pans out.

12 South is picking up new California based boutique store.  I am not a shopper of Jenni Kayne but they are opening in Charlotte too and noticed they are opening in Nashville too.

The 12 South is picking up a lot of high-end retailers along with Green Hills Mall. It has taken Nashville a while to get on the map with the national and international brands but the last 10 years the city has really come around.

Agreed. I’d still like to see an REI in the city, though.

They are opening a distribution center in Lebanon. Hopefully it will lead to more stores in the area.

The closest one is currently in Brentwood, right? Right on Franklin Pike.

Will this have brick exterior? I like the curve, but types of windows and exterior veneer will make the difference between good and bad looking here.

It'll be a combination of Brick, Architectural Block and Standing Seam Metal. Solid, durable materials. Vinyl windows are being used, so we will se how those fair.
