Luna (formerly known as Olympic II, 5 stories, 108 units, internal garage) at 1009 8th Ave. South is starting leasing, and expects to have portions open by May.  Apparently it will be apartments now, instead of condos.

I think that's correct. Looks to be about .6 miles without a crossing between Division and Edgehill and then another .5 miles to Wedgewood.

8th Ave S needs to get the 12th Ave S treatment. Where is someone even supposed to cross the street on this stretch of road?  I am trying to visualize it in my mind, there is a crossing at the W.O. Music School intersection, then one by Party Fowl intersection. Is there really not another crossing on that entire stretch of road? 

With all the new construction that’s going to happen with the Paseo development on the other side of Division, this stretch of 8th is in heavy need of pedestrianization. There is going to be a lot of foot traffic fronting the street between all the residential and the retail that’s going to go in. Already, it’s annoyingly far to cross from Gleaves St. to get to, say, the new Two Hands restaurant.

Some of you will remember there was an attempt by Colby Sledge a few years ago to get the lanes reduced on 8th down to 3, before the water main project got started, but most businesses along the way were having none of it.

We went to Taqueria del Sol last night and all the conversation, from the regulars/staff, was about the closing and redevelopment. According to the staff, they are being told that the entire site will be redeveloped, parking lot included, and it could be big. With the parking requirements gone, it open up the options, I'm assuming. No idea how it affects Faherty Clothing (next door) which is fairly new and likely has a good lease.

Happy to hear these may be long-term rental apartments and not STRs.   Along with some of the other comments about the streetscape over here,  this stretch  of 8th really also needs full-time residents.   Hoping between this and the CA South development adjacent to the I-40 underpass (when is that starting?),  that will be  huge momentum in this regard.

If it’s a possible big ticket redevelopment, it’s likely that they bought out the lease of Faherty. We will know soon enough, either by official announcement or if Faherty suddenly appears to be closing/moving.
