I'm no expert in this, but I was under the impression that these giant high-voltage distribution lines are basically always above ground, as opposed to the local supply cables on the short wood poles that can be buried more easily. Those giant poles are carrying electricity to the West Nashville substation, while the ones handling most of the local electricity needs are on the other side of Charlotte Pike at that location. It's not exactly the same, the three stacked lines shown in the photo are 69 kV transmission lines that NES uses to pull from TVA/Corps drops. They are more expensive to bury than the distribution lines but not quite to the same scale as the 230kV transmission lines that you see on the larger pylons.

In any case it would be difficult to put the developer of one parcel on the hook for burying transmission or even distribution lines; there's a lot of work that has to go into making a transfer from aerial to underground and not something you can do on a piecemeal basis.

Riverside at MetroCenter will be a 623 unit apartment complex (no word on how many structures or height) on 14.25 acres of undeveloped land at 2833 Clarksville Hwy. next to Ted Rhodes Golf Course and the Cumberland River being developed by an unidentified group. According to documents, Catalyst Design Group will be in charge of engineering and land planning. No renderings yet.

TBD. Some neighbors want it turned into a park, with part of the building demolished and the remainder turned into a community center. Or Metro might use it as temporary classroom space while other schools are undergoing renovations. Or it could be turned into homeless housing?

All that to say, nothing is settled yet.

I doubt this will happen because it is not near any social services or for that matter, I don't think a bus line even runs there. I may be wrong about that, but Homeless housing would get so much pushback from the neighbors it will never happen. I will say if the Hillwood neighbors came into Enoch Fuzz's neighborhood and did what he is doing, they would raise holy hell!

There was talk about selling the land off for high end housing to the highest bidder. Now that could go into the Barns fund and do better than Housing for the homeless.

Does anyone know what this is? It's in the former homeless encampment and I've never seen so much scaffolding and so high. There is some sort of structure being built at the top.

Yeah I bet it is that, the west park tank construction looked similar (all the scaffolding got blown over twice) and looks like there is a permit over there issued last summer for building a 6 million gallon tank.

2121 Crestmoor Road in Green Hills is being proposed for a 6 story mixed-use development of residential (unknown amount of units) and ground level retail on 1.15 acres. A partnership led by Nic Spiva is behind the project, and purchased the site in 2007 for $3.64 million. The other partner is Material Ventures, LLC. a 2 story office building currently sites on the site and will need to be razed. No timeline has been given for work.

Smith Gee will serve as the architect; Barge Cauthen & Assoc. is the land-planner and civil engineer.

The Stocking 51 complex at 5016 Centennial Blvd. in The Nations (a series of converted factory spots from 1925 with added new structures totaling 147,000 sq. ft. of retail/office) has sold for $50 million to Stockbridge Capital. The seller was Vintage South Development, who paid $5.53 million for all the properties in the complex from 2015 to 2018.
