  1. We have the reverse problem of Greensboro, where they wonder "why do people always try to call us Greenboro?"

    The West End

This is because discrimination against the unvaccinated is not allowed, and there's no way to easily check who's fully vaccinated anyway.
  3. I doubt it is based on % vaccinated or daily infection rates, but based more on the percentage who have had an opportunity to be vaccinated by now. Waiting longer will result in progressively smaller increases. On everything else - whether or not it's based on actual data, it's a good move politically.
  4. The old Greenville Memorial Auditorium space would barely hold a soccer field with only space for a few spectators.

    The West End

The 1021 S Main St. West End Coffee has become the Crafty Cat Brewing co. The former West End Coffee on S Markley St is now PMC Commercial Interiors. And West End Coffee retail is still open by appointment on Fairforest Way.
  6. Yes from a caption: This sign is approx 1177 miles from Duluth, Minn. It is painted on the side of a building in Greenville, SC. In 2007 Greenville and other parts of the upstate through movie magic became Duluth, Minn. in ”Leatherheads", a football comedy set in the 1920’s. Starring George Clooney, Renee Zellweger, and John Krasinski.
  7. In the meantime, here are some other photos-
  8. The top one is at the corner of Harris and Augusta and the bottom one is at Bradshaw and Augusta.
  9. The name of this community is not well publicized but it's signed as "The Preserve at Logan Park"
  10. I'm glad the P&C came out with this investigation - I donated to their investigative fund. Conceptually I'd like to subscribe to Greenville News for purposes of funding a local watchdog, but I still don't understand their zany subscription price games.
  11. It took some time and it's not the "Jeremiah project", but land has become valuable enough to clean up a superfund site. The location is key to it all. https://www.greenvilleonline.com/story/news/local/2021/02/15/redevelopment-union-bleachery-mill-could-transform-part-greenville/6759666002/
  12. Greenville Co. Councilmembers partake in groundbreaking ceremony for new County Administration Building Dirt is being turned today!
  13. Hope springs eternal!
  14. That is why 'Towers' in downtown Greenville are capped at 196 feet
  15. I'm not as close to this business sector as in the past, but here are my impressions: 1. The additional data and infrastructure is a good thing for the area. Not an immediate benefit, but others may indirectly build on it in the future; citing its presence as a reason to proceed here with similar projects. 2. It's surprising that there is such a market, with the prevalence of Amazon and Azure cloud services, as well as the current presence of Immedion. I'm guessing redundancy / backup for the Atlanta / Alabama / Chattanooga market would be the biggest usage.
  16. From vague memory, I believe they used to refer to the area around Lewis Plaza as the Augusta Road area, either from an old name or casual association, although it is named Augusta Street today.
  17. That's a good point: lifetime totals need to be tracked but they are no longer useful to analyze situations at either local or national levels. This is an example of a realistic assessment of the South Carolina case: the number of Covid hospitalizations. Not the proverbial gunshot victim with antibodies, but real life people spending multiple days at the hospital with varying levels of gasping for breath. At least until the data reporting has been blocked for now.
  18. “As cases rise, deaths decline. The disconnect between case and death trends is striking,” I'll be looking forward to the deaths to continue their sharp decline. The current wave in new areas of the country are composed mostly of younger people. As it spreads, it is more likely to invade senior centers which will have an even larger death rate.
  19. Not going to happen: the decision has already been made to sacrifice for the 'good' of the many at the expense of a few, while discounting the effects of an overloaded health care system. McMaster has washed his virtual hands of the situation and will only make recommendations now. Any action will only happen by the regional governments.
  20. https://www.greenvillesc.gov/civicalerts.aspx?AID=2016 Greenlink Adding Six New Electric Buses to Fleet The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) recently awarded $130 million in grants to 41 recipients, including Greenlink, through its Low- or No-Emission (Low-No) Grant program. The Low-No grant program funds the deployment of transit buses and infrastructure for the purchase or lease of zero-emission and low-emission transit buses and supporting facilities. Greenlink received $5,277,325 to purchase six 35-foot Proterra Catalyst E2 battery electric buses and associated charging equipment to meet the ridership demands linked to service improvements outlined in its current Transit Development Plan. Greenlink was the only agency in SC to be awarded funding. Greenlink’s current fleet includes four 40-foot Proterra Catalyst E2 electric buses, which were purchased using Low-No funding awarded in 2017 and deployed in June 2019. The new 35-foot buses will provide better maneuverability, allowing Greenlink to utilize them on routes with narrower streets. Greenlink will order the new buses and schedule their delivery date to coincide with the completion of the new maintenance facility project in 2023. ...
  21. By the way, the first one in that last group was the Mills Mill Reserve townhomes.
  22. From Facebook: Off the Grid Greenville - I have mixed feelings - the store added some character to that location, regardless of whether the storefront is aesthetically perfect.
  23. And 46 additional CV-19 cases reported in the SC hospitals yesterday, but don't tell anyone.
  24. Until now, Camperdown was previously known as the center of an Ice Cream Desert.
