  1. I'm going to Lowes to pick up some steaks (stakes).
  2. The 12 best cycling trails in the United States If the photos are ordered, the SRT is #10 or #3, depending on whether the "Best" is at the top or bottom.
  3. Bridge connecting Mauldin to Swamp Rabbit Trail nearly complete "... Merritt said he believes the bridge will be complete in September of this year."
  4. Last week on Wednesday-Friday, they began construction of the connector trails from the SRT to Legacy Park and Camperdown Academy. So far just clearing the trees that need to be removed. Eventually they'll need a bridge over Laurel Creek for the Legacy Park connection. That trail segment from Woodruff Road to Verdae Blvd is likely to close during the week when they're working on it in the future. Encountered a deer next to the trail not far from Verdae Blvd. I've never seen a deer this tame in the city; I passed by about 15 feet away and it wasn't bothered at all. If it hadn't been otherwise acting normal I would wonder if it had rabies. Apparently it's smart enough not to tangle with cars on the nearby streets.
  5. Laurens county opened their first section of the Swamp Rabbit Trail yesterday. It currently is just a loop in the middle of the county but they have aspirations of connecting all the way from Fountain Inn across the county to the Palmetto Trail. Part of it is in somewhat dense forest, part of it is in open grassy area, and a section of roadway is used to complete the loop. Laurens County opens its first portion of Swamp Rabbit Trail
  6. Another day, another couple hundred tons of asphalt. County crews are producing, on averaging, a ½ mile of new, super smooth, trail every day. We are marching toward downtown at a remarkable pace. Verdae Blvd to Holland Park along the Green Line of the Swamp Rabbit is now open. We are getting close to you being able to hop down the Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit all the way from Travelers Rest to Verdae Blvd! One more major update to come. https://www.facebook.com/swamprabbittrail/posts/pfbid036enuEudXApH8KxcR5Ti41d6af57ac5SR69y3H43VJzPfkrQUMdXjw9xgH5xap15Dl
  7. Finally, some movement on paving - https://www.facebook.com/GreenvilleCounty/posts/pfbid02UuYauHYVoUNQ5wK8rhNzh4ZeUbAy5izzR26CiPTXbCUKfKnkCWR12a1F9DjtVA3Kl
  8. A piece of road building equipment is on the unbuilt trail section below Think Tank Lab. So possibly some paving is on the horizon.
  9. The 85 intersection should already be OK - with 85 being a bridge over the trail path and already in place. The slide talks about a bridge over Laurel Creek between 85 and Verdae. But the bridge cost would seem a minor obstacle compared to the once-spoken plan of building a bridge over Verdae. I suppose it might need to be slightly elevated since Laurel Creek floods at times.
  10. It's very well done and it's a micro version of Conestee Nature Preserve viewing with an easy foot access.
  11. Some spherical views around the new building ... https://www.mapillary.com/app/?lat=34.840515873016&lng=-82.400444444444&z=17&pKey=258181573251691&focus=photo&x=0.1449934335001679&y=0.42358273993237766&zoom=0
  12. I wish they'd post an update. Even if it's just supply chain issues, it would make it seem that they're still thinking of finishing it in 2023.
  13. The traffic system that detects cars blocking the intersection as sweeps them aside automatically?
  14. People from "Up & Coming" Cities #shorts
  15. Laurens Road Trail Spurs Project Explores Connections from Green Line Trail to Nicholtown, Gower and Verdae Neighborhoods
  16. I don't believe this wetland ever floods - it's much higher than the other river bank.
  17. https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2023/03/02/ford-establishes-latitude-ai-to-develop-future-automated-driving.html
  18. Word on "the street" (A.K.A Facebook) from multiple people is that it is a good idea to allow extra time to get through TSA for the next day or so. There is some issue like a new or malfunctioning X Ray machine.
  19. Perhaps this will be paved before the bridges open, but it's not paved or open yet between the Double Stamp brewery and the Laurens Rd Bridge.
  20. Status updates from Dorothy Dowe's newsletter -
  21. Here's where the new trail goes, 2/3 mile of old railroad bed and nearly 1/3 mile of connector trails on both ends. Swamp Rabbit trail green line along Laurens Road
  22. Which project is going in next to Waffle House?
  23. They have to build the bridges long enough to meet requirements for disability access and road height clearance, so that's why the big price tag.
  24. I would guess no change to the trail under the bridge because one place stated that the existing walls wouldn't change.
