  1. I'm surprised that they can't do something else to improve the existing pedestrian bridge and add a bridge over Church Street which will always be a challenge for pedestrians because of the 2-way street. They could use the building to get some height for road clearance, but of course would require something major on the other side.
  2. It's going to be a challenge to get dog owners to clean up after their pets - stepping off the trail is an exercise in danger. The likelihood of stepping in a 'bomb' is pretty high, as the dotted tracks show on the concrete. There are already 3 bag dispensers along the trail. But the rest of the park is coming together well for the opening...
  3. It shows on the county GIS imagery, probably from early this year (near 130 Halston Ave). Appears to be active construction.
  4. They are moving to a new location, yet to be disclosed. The previous location doesn't yet have a consistent high level of foot traffic, despite being close to Fluor Field.
  5. What if they relocated one of the old mill water towers and converted it into an observation deck - are they higher than the Unity Park proposed tower? For example https://nextpittsburgh.com/environment/north-parks-iconic-water-tower-finds-new-purpose-as-a-public-observation-site/
  6. Someone figured out that it'd be cheaper to buy one of these units than hotel rooms at $400+ per night.
  7. The proposed stadium would have been on the Swamp Rabbit Trail too. (of course at the current rate of buildout, it might be 30-40 years until it reaches there!)
  8. An interesting analysis of the vote Greenville County Council Got It All Wrong
  9. Can't wait until 'they' find something to protest and get upset about it.
  10. I haven't studied rents downtown, but imagine that rents are already sky high relative to the Sprawlurbs. Anything operating downtown must already have amazing profit margins to stay afloat. For example Table 301 had some cool concept restaurants that couldn't make it in an environment with too high a percentage of teetotalers.
  11. So, the local arts community dares to disagree with the NYT review "Daniel Fish’s wide-awake, altogether wonderful production is thrilling!"?
  12. Auro bridge to be constructed over the next 4 days by the workers suspended from cables. https://www.facebook.com/cityofgreenvillesc/videos/616071882924031/
  13. Is that area still part of the flood plain? Note that the warehouse building that includes Southernside Brewing is elevated.
  14. While not Google Maps, here's some updated imagery from some of downtown - https://www.mapillary.com/app/?lat=34.84353173712471&lng=-82.40555567089842&z=14.193401210095013&panos=true&dateFrom=2020-11-03&pKey=323097099189374&x=0.33908079641864997&y=0.39016138061870465&zoom=0
  15. I agree that the trail to Verdae is the most critical. I still see the Verdae bridge as critical to be scheduled soon after - using the ICAR parking garage as a trailhead, extending the line to the Golden Strip area, etc.
  16. Yes, it's likely that they'll be able to create a tunnel using one or more of the existing bridge tunnels.
  17. Greenville County refuses to accept city's blame for mounting Swamp Rabbit Trail costs
  18. The other rumor going around is that they were too late ordering to be able to obtain that quantity of fireworks, which are temporarily in short supply.
  19. This has been flogged to death, but now even more have pledged financial support. Community Foundation of Greenville announces $15,000 in grants to Hispanic Alliance for ‘Wings of the City’
  20. And Unity Park will officially open in Spring 2022. Not sure if that includes the tower.
  21. From what I can gather: Completion date slipped Dec 2022. Reason: Covid set other priorities City is uncomfortable with the schedule slip and lack of detail on bridge costs by now. May or may not be able to open partial trail as it completes, pending actual bridge schedules. My opinion only- Disappointed that the project could not get a higher priority by now considering the surrounding area investments by businesses. Construction bids and design should have been able to proceed during Covid, pending coordination by the County. Bridges are more complicated and expensive than first estimate, especially the Laurens Rd overpass.
  22. The good thing is that they have plenty of lead time for next year's Artisphere, and the Artisphere juror process can include a limit on the maximum amount of body parts that will be allowed into the show. Here's another Op Ed point of view: Op Ed: Look up — then stand up — for the Wings of the City tonight at County Council
  23. Oh dear... GVL county council votes to pull funding from Hispanic Alliance art exhibit
  24. When was the last time you were in the iStore in Greenville?
