The old white color always had all those small rust streaks that ran down the side of building everywhere. Not sure if I was the only one that ever noticed but there was a lot of them. I noticed that when I was little. I remember asking my dad when they would get them "fixed"

Some of the older buildings, even those built in the 80's will keep the skyline from looking monotonous with glass towers everywhere. I love glass towers, but I also like to see diversity in the architecture of a skyline. While I wish we had substantially older skyscrapers like those found in New York, Chicago and Philly, I don't think we need to do away with those that represent various eras in our history. Decades from now there might be people who think the L&C Tower should come down.... I never liked the building in the first place-the new paint job did not help in my opinion. I probably should have said bland instead of dated. The L&C is still, after over 60 years, the best designed tower in downtown. It is a classic International Style design and if anyone tries to tear it down I'll strap myself to the building and dare 'em to do it!

If this particular photo was panned to the right just a bit to capture south sobro, JWM and Westin then it would include all the major buildings in one frame, and that's hard to do! If I have my angles right, even the new highrises going up will just fill in gaps and not really cover up any existing building, at least not in it's entirety. Even Tony's fantasy tall boy would slot nicely in that empty space to the right of the Sheraton... this really is the perfect angle, in my opinion. Popular Post grilled_cheese
I'm really surprised that intersection hasn't been expanded in the last 40 years. Popular Post wmaddbb2018
Do you ever just feel like this is all just a dream? How can it be, that day after day, we just keep getting more and more awesome development! It's amazing to think about what th Nashville skyline of 2025 will be. The picture beneath gives an idea of where many of the new buildings, if built, will go. 1) One KVB Circle - 30 stories. 2020 open. 475,000 sq ft, Baker Donelson law firm as main tenant. 2) New 35 story roundabout apartment tower. 3) Numerous buildings at 1 billion dollar Lifeway redevelopment site called "Nashville Yards". 4) JW Marriott : 34 story hotel, which has topped out and will open by late fall. 5) 30 story Embassy Suites and 18 story Curio hotels. 6) 5 + Broadway development/Old convention center redevelopment, 2 towers of 34 and 20 stories. 7) 2nd Ave Partners 40 story condo, hotel and retail space. 8) Numerous new 10-20 story hotel buildings going up on Korean Veterans Blvd around Music City Convention Center. 9) Girrattana 50-65 story condo tower where Church St park currently is. I think many will be built in this drawing and of course others will be announced over time. Keep in mind this doesn't even include the Gulch, Midtown, Vanderbilt or Rolling Mint Hill where there is also a significant amount of development going on or even all of downtown, just what is considered "major". What an incredible time to live, work and play in Nashville!

Popular Post BnaBreaker
Look at this beautiful, gleaming, modern city. It has a skyline that compares favorably to cities twice it's size like Minneapolis and Denver... but it has a mass transit system that compares favorably to cities an eighth it's size, like Fargo and Topeka... and apparently Nashvillians don't see any problem with that whatsoever. 5 1
