Fifth Third Bank from various floors of the 505 CST:

5th Third Bank from 505, 3.jpg

It is still, maybe, the best looking skyscraper in town. The firm of kohn, pederson, fox and associates designed it and it has been recognized nationally as a significant example of design.

But I do dislike the 5/3 sign. It is an ugly scar on the building.

I agree about the sign.  The roof lighting is gone because of it.

See the ledges on the front?  I used to work in that building, everybody'd be in a meeting listening to some boring accountant drone on and on and everyone with that I-hope-they-don't-call-on-me-because-I-don't-know-what-the-hell-they're-talking-about look on their faces, and there would be a line of big black vultures perched on the ledge right outside the window.  It was totally surreal and kind of hilarious.  Architects should plan more things like that into buildings.  Vulture ledges.

Hmmm, aren't there some law offices on the top floors near those ledges?

I remember when there was a YMCA in top floor or top two floors of the now 5/3 building. The very top floor was a basketball court which I’m sure had the best views of any basketball around. I don’t remember much else about it since I never joined  and only took a tour.

Yep I used to work out there (the “Uptown Y”).   Small facility, but great views!
