  1. I get what you’re saying here, but the hotels will need to be successful (and in a good location) in order to offset the cost of all the affordable housing that Fallon is building. I’ve been in the affordable housing industry for 20 years now and there’s a saying in the industry: the only thing affordable about affordable housing are the rents on the back end. They are expensive to build AND maintain/manage, and rarely, if ever, break even. As for the air quality, these AH developments will all have some form of government subsidy (LIHTC, PILOT, Section 8 - project based subsidy, etc). Each of these subsidies will require the developer to perform an environmental assessment before any dirt is moved. They will have to remediate any issues found (including air quality) in the assessment before moving forward. The views may not be of downtown, but the buildings will be safe to live in. I’d much rather live in a new AH development overlooking a scrapyard that is close to downtown than an older AH development where they paint over the lead paint and encapsulate the asbestos.
  2. Lincoln Tech applied for a rehab permit last week for their new space at 2813 Brick Church Pike.
  3. I was just getting on to post about core drilling in the BATL parking lot.
  4. A few years ago they were trying to sell that Fat MO’s location for like 16 million.
  5. I think a couple of airlines offer seasonal flights to Cancun. I flew directly there on Delta a few years back on my way to Isla Mujeres.
  6. Fencing is up around the perimeter of what would be the first phase of the Oracle campus.
  7. Haven’t been yet, but that guy is out there every morning at 7 and it smells amazing
  8. A Water/Sewer Availability Review permit was applied for today at 1201 Gallatin Ave. The permit name is……Whataburger. Whata disappointment if true.
  9. 1200 Gallatin Avenue was a used car dealer up until 2021 and has sat vacant up until a few weeks ago when a new used car dealer moved in. The property is zoned MUG-A and used car dealerships are not allowed under MUG-A. Can someone explain how this is allowed to happen? I’m sure the use was grandfathered in for the previous dealer, but it has sat vacant for 2 years and the new business does not appear to be related.
  10. Thai Esane is replacing Bar East in the Hill Center Five Points development.
