I still think of BB&T as the old redneck Wilson bank.  Good luck Charlotte.  LOL

it does have Wilson roots.  But when you see BB&T signs all over florida, in Houston and San Antonio, all over DC you really can't say that.   It is a well run bank with rural roots.

BB&T does have a strong presence in DC as does suntrust. It’ll probably be the 2nd in DC with the most # of branches once Truist is fully combined. Obviously the branch # might shrink but the deposits shouldn’t

so after speaking to my wife's cousin...current tenants in Hearst are moving out slowly, so the things Truist is wanting to get done are moving slowly.  He said floor 34 is opening Monday which will be open concept with what sounds like a We Works inspired floor plan.  He did not have any info on any new tower plans for Truist, but that is not his area of expertise.  They are currently using the building around lake point owned by BB&T right now as well, but most everything will be moving to Hearst by April.  He gets to camp out on floor 44 for the time being, so at least he has a nice view.  Since he will be commuting from ATL for the next month or so, we will be seeing him more often...so hopefully Ill get some info that would not be readily available.

I talked to someone in the know yesterday too, and they also said things will be moving slowly. Just the backend tech stuff, changing bank account numbers, new debit card system, etc. will take forever. They're expecting end of 2021 before you don't see any Suntrust or BB&T branches.

Truist said the Carolinas VA, GA will be the last states to see the Truist name.  First up will be Texas and the markets where there are few branches and or little overlap.

and when it was mentioned name on the building could they not be talking about above the main entrance or on the side facing 6th St.  Did they specifically say on the top?  There are little signs on the plaza facing Tryon that have BofA's logo those will be the first to go LOL.

from the ATL Biz Chronicle

https://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/news/2019/12/11/cousins-properties-selling-charlotte-tower-to.html

this sounds like Atlanta based Cousins is trying to reel in US Bank to the BofA Plaza where that bank is vacating lots of space.

""Mark Holoman, Charlotte managing director for Cousins, said early Wednesday that the firm was excited that a new, major corporate user is reusing a building in uptown for its headquarters. Most corporate relocations and expansions in this development cycle have opted for new construction, either anchoring a speculative building or a build-to-suit.  Holoman and Cousins are hoping for a similar story at what's currently Bank of America Plaza. The namesake tenant is moving out, with its lease expiring in about a year, which will open up 16 floors at the building.""

Hearing from a #source that was recently hired by the new bank that they will be bouncing around several locations in Charlotte for the time being, including South Park and Lake Pointe.

They will be one of the first to know about any new technology tower - will provide an update if I hear anything. Sounds like it will be a while however as mergers like this take a long time.

Here is a story from the Atlanta Business Chronicle reported in our Biz Journal and with a short video of the new color.   So we have a Red white blue bank, red and yellow bank, and 2 purple banks the other being Ally.

Actually, ketchup and mustard have given way to just ketchup. The gold letters have been switched to white in the new branding of the Stagecoach. We were told the yellow is hard on the eyes when using a mobile device, so it's going away (except in iconography of the stagecoach itself).

Not sure I’m buying the explanation you were told.  Several articles were published the first couple of months of 2019 that clearly indicated it was a move to once again (for about the third time in three years) shore up the bank’s image after its latest scandal.  The “Established 1852.  Re-established 2018” was the previous attempt to PR their way out of the last muff-up.  Then less than a year later, some other new sh!t hit the fan, so that campaign was quickly toast.  Obviously modifying the color of your logo should restore the trust of the masses.  “We’re all good now!”

Charlotte, NC at night

Here she is--almost purple.

And BA is.... almost, mmm... white-ish?  No, blue.  Bluey-white aqua.

From the press release: "...an evolved logo, modern stagecoach, and digitally friendly colors and tone". Apparently yellow is hard on the eyes in a digital format.

If only they'd have kept that pretty little wave of blue and green. Sigh.

I’m sure that was more face-saving than “We got busted again, so will this work?”

Give it a couple more scandals.  They may very well work their way back to being Wachovia after they run out of ways to rehash Wells.
