  1. I looked up the parcel and no permits pulled yet. Hmmm
  2. What do we have here? Taking samples for selling or for some plans? Installing something? Others side of the tracks on W Trade.
  3. What’s the operating budget? Without a reliable wait time of 10 mins or less I can’t see this ever being used for commuting and pay fare. At this point just eat the annual operating expense and sell it as an economic development tool for the west side, center city, and plaza.
  4. Yeah that’s what I mean. The button doesn’t really influence the traffic signal. No need to hit it unless you need the audio.
  5. I can’t remember who it was, but the person in charge of Charlotte’s traffic light system, specifically uptown, was on Charlotte talks last year. They were very clear that most of the traffics signals in uptown are “dumb”. They work purely off time. The only thing they change to make it “smart” is vary the timing depending on the time of day. They can sync them to change together or offset one another, but very few have sensor loops in the ground to actually sense a vehicle. It’s really stupid that early in the morning I’m having to stop on trade for a light changing for no reason lol. Also related to this are a lot of the new pedestrian signals say. “For audio signal only” or something like that. I don’t think they have any influence on the signal changing. Just whether or not the machine gun sounds are used.
  6. Smart traffic lights would go a long way to making this thing faster. It blows my mind that all the uptown traffic lights are purely time based. There’s no reason the streetcar should have to stop at an empty light in the middle of the night. It should be changing before it gets there. Pop a new lower valance on that baby and good as new.
  7. Yeah the problem is the track crosses from the left hand lane to the right there. So people pull over on the right side and block the train…
  8. Yeah I saw it lit up rainbow once. The sign is really cool though. Had Alex bowmans car for the race yesterday
  9. FNB could have used some lights Honeywell looks great
  10. I had the pleasure of waiting 15 mins for a car to get off the tracks 1/2 block from the Tryon station in front of hooters. Gateway station to Tryon in like 25 mins… it’s an 8 min walk but decided to jump on the train since it was right there. My bad.
  11. The 101 Tryon Reno is getting closer to being finished. The landscaping is a little ridiculous outside Coco. These tree mounds are high af lol
  12. Most of CATS tweets are Gold Line issues now maybe someone crapped their pants because it took 90 mins to go 3 miles I’m guessing this is a fare increase proposal right? Which is ridiculous for such a short and time inefficient ride.
  13. I can’t seem to catch the timing right. On our way to plaza it was pulling away as we got to the stop. Waiting 20 mins for the next one. On the way home there must have been some separation issues. It was in the turn around for 30 mins and then we had a “separation timing adjustment” wait at CTC for 10 mins. Over all about 75 mins to go sunnyside to gateway at 10 pm last night lol Even free right now I’m not sure it’s worth it. Just takes so much time. we were also the only ones on the train both ways. 6 pm and 10 pm
  14. Sitting at sunnyside rn. Been waiting for the train to move out of the turn around spot going on 30 mins now…
  15. I think they can really run 35 mph or so. They weren’t in service on the blue line, just testing I think. Not sure they can go the 65mph that the S70s can.
  16. That’s BS. They tested the Gold line cars on the Blue line. I saw them myself running.
  17. Anybody else notice their citizen app sending out more and more violent crime notifications recently. It seemed like I used to get maybe one a night and now it’s 4,5,6… Now that drive-by shooting and 3 year old dead I’ve notice the Gateway area is getting sketchier and sketchier at night. Lots of shady things happening under the NS rail bridge.
  18. Crap you’re right. Forgot about that tidbit.
  19. How many blue line spares are there? You could run all 6 gold line cars and steal a spare blue line if need be short term right? You can’t commute efficiently with the way they are running it right now. Which defeats a large part of the purpose imo.
  20. Add another car and reduce the spacing. How many cars are running right now at one time? Four?
  21. Rode it again. The 20 min wait at sunnyside with the train sitting in the turn around spot is so annoying. Like they are purposely slowing everything down. I feel like 10 min frequency is not that far away. Maybe only one extra car and going 5 more mph. I doubt we broke 25 mph on our way back at 11 pm. It was still 50 mins total with the initial wait at sunnyside to go to gateway. we laughed because there were some runners we caught up to at the Tryon stop and they beat us to CPCC. Lmao
  22. We took it from gateway to plaza last night too. Train was arriving when we walked up so that was all good. Still took a good 30 mins to get to Sunnyside. The ride back was not good. First we waited 10 mins for the train to arrive. Then it stayed another 10-15 mins in the turn around area. On the way back it stopped at CTC for a worker change for 8 mins. Took us about an hour to get back to Gateway. Insert yikes face here.
