  1. I know all of this. My point was that RDU actually seeks out new airlines to service the airport. And exactly where is the demand from the Triangle to KEF and how would CLT be any different?
  2. Is it? RDU has Icelandair to KEF and Delta to CDG? CLT has seasonal service to CDG and AA offers no service to Iceland at all.
  3. You can blame Charlotte Water (formerly CMUD) for that cluster.
  4. I said "were." That's why I asked the question as to why RDU has gotten so much new service from foreign flag carriers, but CLT hasn't.
  5. I often wonder if the reason CLT has failed to attract additional international carriers is the fact our CBP processing is already so constrained? It's a pretty miserable arrival experience. I've never entered RDU from outside the USA, but I can only assume their customs area was under-utilized, seeing as that its only international arrivals were LHR and CDG.
  6. Oh good lord! Just go ahead and build a new headhouse and rename all this Terminal 1! If Mary Shelley were alive today, she could easily write a book about CLT and call it "Frankenport."
  7. They're not leaving Randolph. The new building is for R&D, as well as a showroom for their products.
  8. Every time I drive past that site, I think to myself, "That'd make a great park. Wonder who owns it." At least now I know it'll probably not be redeveloped in my lifetime.
  9. Just walked past it this afternoon. Sheesh, this is one fugly building at ground level. Distance is its friend.
  10. Just wait till Wells Fargo does its bidding across the street...
  11. But ground transporation has existed since the advent of the airplane. MSP has had such an area since 2004. SFO added striping to the parking garage for rideshare in 2015. This isn't rocket science.
  12. Steve is right: move ride shares to the hourly garage. Even SFO does this (they use the top level of the garage). Why CLT didn't include a large ground transportation area in the hourly garage is beyond stupid.
  13. You're missing one important detail, though: Hawaiian operates a hub at HNL and offers connecting service to Japan, Polynesia, Micronesia, Korea, New Zealand, and Australia. From the merger website: • Strategic Honolulu hub: Honolulu will become a key Alaska Airlines hub, enabling greater international connectivity for West Coast travelers throughout the Asia-Pacific region with onestop service through Hawai‘i. I have to assume that Hawaiian's code share with jetBlue is soon to be history.
  14. Nothing like being welcomed back to Charlotte and the United States by the filthiest airport in the world.
  15. The new concourse under construction will house seven gates for Delta and three general purpose gates.
  16. The column lighting will be tweaked. Like every LED fixture in Charlotte, they change color.
  17. Somebody posted something they weren't supposed to. The above rendering and text regarding the terminal are now gone from the RS&H website.
  18. I agree. With the closure and demo of the crosswind runway, the land will br readily available for a mid-field gate complex, while keeping the current concourses operational until construction is complete..
  19. WF Main is the original 12-story First Union HQ on Tryon. It opened in 1954. Although it's connected to Two Wells Fargo, it's considered a separate structure and (was) entirely occupied by the bank.
  20. Honestly, for me it's simply the fact--like Truist--the building wasn't designed to have a logo (the east-facing side of the handle has a substantial slant). Add the fact WF doesn't have a logo, but instead a rather uninspiring wordmark with colors best seen on an Advance Auto Parts store. There's a reason there's no signage on the Minneapolis, San Francisco, New York, Denver, Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, Seattle, and San Diego Wells buildings: they weren't designed to have them. What's next? Bof A throws a giant Flagscape on top of the Corporate Center?
  21. Well Fargo Main is also being emptied. The department I support is there. Only the branch remains.
  22. The same company that’s exiting three towers to push everyone to University City?
  23. Denver is in the middle of a $1 billion renovation.
