Construction on Ford's $5.6 billion project in Haywood County is set to begin later this year. 

That is a slightly different timeline from the initial one Ford gave when the company announced the project in September. Then, officials had hoped construction would begin in late 2021.

The company recently selected a Detroit-based contractor, Walbridge,  to head construction for the plant. It’s one of several pre-construction steps for Ford and SK Innovation’s future electric truck and battery plant.

A snippet: "MEMPHIS – Ford Motor Co. and SK Innovation have entered a 30-year lease agreement with the state of Tennessee for the $5.6 billion Blue Oval City project.

The Megasite Authority of West Tennessee board of directors approved the payment-in-lieu-of-taxes (PILOT) and lease agreement at its meeting Thursday.

According to the lease agreement, Ford and SK Innovation must create at least 90% of the proposed 5,760 jobs to receive the full $500 million grant awarded to them by the state in October. If they fail to create at least 5,184 jobs by 2032, both companies must pay a portion of the $500 million grant plus $175 million, the estimated value of the donated land."

Chattanooga will get its first TailGate Brewery by the end of spring in a converted railroad terminal building at 1464 Market St. near Chattanooga Choo Choo.

I hope it's as good as the Terminal Brewhouse that it's replacing. I don't know the circumstances around the restaurant's closure, but glad it's something similar is going there. It's a V-shaped footprint, like a mini flatiron building.  The rendering looks like they plan to expand the upstairs beer garden and create one under the extension on the ground level. That's an extremely cool building built around the turn of the last century by a porter who saved his money and built it as a hotel.  When we moved here over 15 years ago, it was vacant along with just about every building around the Choo Choo in the Southside neighborhood.

Sad to hear the Terminal closed, that really was a cool building.

Is this right across the street from the Choo Choo close to where Choo Choo Hot Fish was?

On the same side of Market Street as the Choo Choo just south of the station.  There's a small freight access street (Station Street) and the Terminal Building is across that street. I think the Hot Fish club was down Market Street closer to the corner with Main, but I'm not sure. I never went there.

RIP Terminal Brewhouse; the owners had publicly discussed closing due to the lease situation...greener grass lessee apparently.

Memphis: Simmons Liberty Bowl remodel renderings released.  Plan is to be open by fall of 2025.

Thanks for the mention Ron. Trying to post more on there to show my home city some love haha. Lots more projects that have been announced/proposed so expect more news everyone! Some of it late I know but there’s a lot to keep up with now so that’s a good sign for development in the city!

One of my years at UTK I lived in an apartment in a house on White Avenue, which at the time was so quiet (for being only one block off the strip). Looks like that little house will survive this wave of development, but it’s not likely it will be there too much longer.

The Bend has a really cool plan. It’s somewhat of an extension of the very attractive Cameron Harbor development. Next step of Chattanooga’s embrace of the river. Nashville could learn a lot from our city’s experience.

Memphis 901 FC has plans for  a new soccer stadium in Liberty Park, to replace the Mid South Coliseum (saw some cool concerts and hockey games there back in the day). Capacity for stadium would be 10,000 with 7,500 being fixed-seating.
