Yeah, those kinds of coinky-dinks happen from time to time.

Especially with band names and songs.

Angel From Montgomery might be John Prine's song, but Bonnie Raitt OWNS it.

Nobody can do it like she does.

Agree 100% My sister recently saw her in concert and said she was as amazing as she was when we were "kids"

Ya ain't talkin' to a Millennial.. of course I know who Joe Piscopo is, LOL. " It shoots through  schools."  Never saw this. Just brilliant. Belzer intro was awesome.  Liza in the audience...

Pat Benatar also @ 3:12, during her song.

I read that years ago in an interview, talking about her first time hearing AFM, that at the time, she had never heard of John Prine. But after hearing it, she was so struck by the fact that a young man in his 20's could write such a poignant song from the POV of a middle aged woman, that she had to meet him. And that's how they became friends.

Good things are happening in Connecticut:

- Connecticut just cut taxes yet again under Democratic Governor Ned Lamont.

- Connecticut just enacted new even stricter gun control measures; making CT's gun laws arguably the strictest in America.

- Governor Ned Lamont is in talks with the NHL Commissioner to bring the Arizona Coyotes to Hartford. CT just approved a $100 million renovation of the XL Center in Hartford with possibly even more money to come.

Yeah, but how's your air quality tonight...? Sorry, just kidding- I talked to family up there tonight and they said smoke from the Canadian fires was terrible.

Regardless, I concur, good things are happening in CT.

No...it's a good point. Friends of mine in Jersey sent me a bunch of photos and it is a disaster.  Where's the Go Green lobby on this one?  I want to hear from them.

Yes, forest fires cause air pollution. What point are you trying to make?

that's a fascinating point of view.  I actually heard that; when I heard about the number and location of the fires, my mind started wandering...

I really do not think it is. I just like"Blame Canada" every now and then. But they should be held liable to any and all health outcomes related to this.

It does remind me of the California fire from a few years back where Trump in is own way described the fire as a lack of maintenance from the state of California. He was right and I would not be surprised if this is the same reason. Just the one millionth reminder of why we should not give government more power when they cannot do the basics.

they're down 15k firefighters.  they have kicked around the idea of a national firefighter service every year and done nothing.  the US has done way more with controlled burns for forest maintenance than Canada has ever done, and Canada has way more acreage...  On Clean Air Day, the other day, Trudeau addressed parliament and talked about raising taxes while everyone was choking on smoke (as opposed to funner things).

The Go Green lobby gets a hard on against fossil fuels, yet, overlooks the obvious- not because of ignorance, rather, because of politics.  The early 1900's photos and video of NYC and Chicago show smokestacks afire and smoke everywhere.  It's actually kind of cool to look at in a video, really. But those days are long gone for at least sixty to seventy years.  What is happening now in the US because of Canada made all of that look like child's play.  I spoke to a pal in Jersey just now and they sent me video from yesterday; orange sky.  Smoke got into schools.  Today is a little better but still can't see the Sun.  Actually I should move up there and thank Trudeau, because I hate the Sun, LOL.

No, but it's tragic and now the media is calling for more Climate Change efforts to give that Socialist and their movement more traction.  Except, that you have to be living in a box not to know that this is because of forest fires.  But they'll blame Climate Change and fossil fuels, not negligent campers and not a negligent forestry maintenance entity in a country with the most forests.

I mean, if I was a Go Green advocate, I would push that narrative right now as far as I could.  I would blame Trump, DeSantis, McCarthy, the NRA, Putin, Bikers, Carnivores, Mississippi, and the Chevy Silverado and tell people the only way to make it stop would be to vote Democrat (Mississippi just 'cause).  Vote Democrat for clean air.  I need to move to DC and write these peoples' scripts as a side action.  Don't anyone here steal my idea.

This is an act of war.

I have a friend who lives in central/north New Jersey.

He says he loves it.

If not for the health problems it's causing some people, he'd be wishing it would hang around awhile.

Says he likes the smoky smell and the orange tinted sky.

Yeah, he's a bit on the weird side.

It was not nearly as bad in DC as New York but my throat was a bit scratchy yesterday.
Anyway, took this shot of a building preservation that I’m impressed with. You can see the somewhat hazy and hazardous air quality in the image.

I forgot; you're in DC.  Man, that's a gorgeous building... man, I'm looking out the window this afternoon and I wonder if its stretched all the way down to here...

 I was going to suggest the following was probably the case, but figured I'd best read the article first...

....advocates are pushing for eight-hour days, citing evidence that employees will do the same amount of work in fewer hours. By the same argument, proponents say workers should earn the same pay for a four-day week as for a five-day week.

Most U.S. companies still favor the five-day week. Advocates are pushing for a large-scale pilot of the four-day workweek in America, with employers agreeing to eight fewer hours of weekly work at the same weekly pay.

Just as I suspected!!!

I suspected that you wouldn’t get it. People would be expected to do five days worth of work in four days. Hence, why the pay would stay the same. You’re paid for your production, not merely your presence. This has already been tried many times and the results have shown a third day off is a great motivator for people to work harder, and they do.

No offense intended.  🤟🏻

But I'm sorry, I just don't believe that "doing five days work in four" biz. Some hard charging, honest John types might bust their humps like that, but I'm thinking a significant percentage will just coast.

My sister did four day work weeks at Rockwell Collins in Melbourne. They did four 10 hour days M - Th. Started at 5 am, worked till 3:30 pm with a half hour lunch break and two 10 minute coffee breaks.

Because she lived in North Cocoa, she had to get up at 3:00 am to get ready and make it to work by 5:00.

It was no picnic.

Besides, I kinda doubt many employers are just going to go along with the idea of five days pay for four days work.

JMHO.

You may feel free to disagree.

very nifty in theory.

Bad idea.  Unless you work for The State.

Yes, Regis, that's "my final answer."
