Yes, KIA did a recall and installed some software and put a sticker on the driver and passenger side windows that anti theft software has been installed. When I took my 2015 Sorento in for that recall they let me know that my engine warranty was extended to a million miles as there's been lots of KIA engines seizing due to metal shavings in the engines as part of the manufacturing process. I thought to myself hmmm.....what are the odds? I've already had this car all these years and no problems so hopefully good to go. Not so fast my friend! Two months later on I-10 W on our way to Tallahassee it died 30 miles east of Tallahassee (yay for the premium AAA membership with 200 miles towing $7/mile after that) Long day.
Once back in Orlando we had it towed to my mechanic who said the engine was done and he started the process with making a claim with KIA to replace the engine. One more tow to dealership and 3 weeks later I had a new engine plus KIA reimbursed me for the over 200 mile charge from AAA ($230 I think), $40/day rental car (I ended up out $400 on the rental) and also uber receipts for getting to car rental and then to dealership to pick up the car. I was very happy that I didn't have to pay the thousands of dollars this could've cost. I wish my model had come under the other class action group that covered rental cars at $80/day but $40 was better than nothing. Now that that's over I'm happy with my KIA again but for a few weeks there I was crabby. I like not having a car payment anymore.
