Camden vs Pollack Shores. I'll take door #3.

Yea I'm thinking the same. While at least Camden has developed high rises in the past 10 years, they have 0 track record for mixed use. Pollack Shores is more of the same. Don't want to lose all of our land uptown to Midrise apartments.

Camden is proposing at least 8 stories of apartments and "considering" some retail. No mention of hotel (I'm ok with that)... Agree with tozmervo, what's behind door #3 please.

That seems like an awfully small scope for a very expensive site.

"Considering" retail...At least eight whopping stories...

Wow, that seems much worse than a definitive 300 apartments, 125 room hotel, and 10k of retail.

I've been given word that the "at least 8 floors" is very preliminary and came from the Real Estate Division Director not from Camden itself. There should be more to this project than maybe retail and 8 floors of apartments, the price of the land would suggest something Multi-use.

Today Ely Portillo and Will Boye published articles about Uptowns Newest Development Juggernaut, Stonewall Street.

http://www.bizjournals.com/charlotte/print-edition/2015/05/15/a-land-rush-on-charlottes-stonewall-street.html

http://www.charlotteobserver.com/news/business/biz-columns-blogs/development/article21079077.html

A common topic, that hasn't been mentioned much on this forum, is the 1.7 acre crescent shaped parcel, that is the last of the city-owned parcels available as part of the land reclamation from the highway.

While this parcel, because of its awkward shape and small size, isn't all that exciting, the future prospects of the general area are extremely exciting. The article mentioned that CMS plans on vacating Walton Plaza in early 2016 and there is a plan to bundle the land that Actors Theatre, Walton Plaza and The city owned Crescent lot and sell to a developer. The total land sale will be 8 acres!

I created this thread to start conversation about what people would like to see in this space, and while I would be highly sad to see Actors Theatre Go, I would like to think a space could be created to house them as part of this 8 acre redevelopment.

I read that constraint is an architects best friend. If that's the case, maybe the last parcel will be home to a building of architectural significance since it is small and not rectangular in shape.

I think the Lincoln Harris/Charlotte Observer site is being overlooked.

Off the top of my head, If I'm not mistaken, Lincoln Harris has been in charge of the cities largest projects including BoA HQ. I have high expectations for that plot. Especially being beside Tryon Place, I think Lincoln would do something just as great.

This last parcel, I'm not sure what to envision until these other projects start rolling.

According to the Observer: "Under rules for the sale of city-owned land, Charlotte must now advertise again to allow any further upset bids. Korolos said that new upset bid period will end May 26"

I will change the title... but it's possible that it could change again.

"Northwood Ravin Site @ Stonewall and Caldwell". At least until the next round of bids come in (June 15th).

Unheard of company "Urban Planet Institute, LLC" with upset bid.
