Davidson East: East Nashville, Inglewood, Madison, Donelson, Hermitage, Old Hickory

It's not often that I'm referred to as a gentleman.

It didn't come through well in the text, but as I typed it I muttered "gentleman" as Seinfeld would say "Newman" if that makes you feel any better.

Go ahead and leave him as a gentleman, he doesn't start the fires; he doesn't fan the flames either.

(...and I'm not being facetious)

Was at the hockey game last night. A couple of Chicago fans said they really like Nashville. They are looking to move somewhere new and really like what they saw here.

Naturally, I told them not to be fooled by the TV shows. Most of Nashville is a crime infested drug land, and you would have to be a fool to want to live here. We spend our entire annual budget on lower Broadway just to get some tourism dollars down here.

I hear Detroit is making a comeback.

John, how do you think a sports bar concept would do in that location in your building?

Well, this one did not do well because 5 Points has 4 or 5 Sports bars that continually stay crowded. The problem is we have no street traffic. Anything in our building has to be a destination place like The Vine is now and Germantown East was. It is a lot easier for 5 Points to stay full for obvious reasons, and tons of street pedestrian traffic.

Once Stacks on Main is completed next door, we may be able to support a street traffic place.

5 Points has 1 sports bar...and it is smoking.  I really wanted Field House to work and feel that it could have easily succeeded with some consistent staffing and a greater attention to some details...for instance, every screen was too small.  They had a bunch, but were all too small.  The one projector they had was behind the bar...which could only be seen by a few people seated at the bar up close due to a concrete column.

Agree about the street presence though.

One big issue is that the original tenants did a rather poor job of designing the space, and somehow all of the subsequent tenants have made no efforts to improve upon it. Quite surprising considering how many individuals I have spoken to who have without prompting, mentioned how poorly designed and unattractive the layout, furnishings, etc. are.

I realize changing such things can be expensive, but it would obviously make a big difference here.

1) New entity replacing Field House in the 5th and Main building. Our HOA president was told not to tell us yet, but said we would like it very much.

2) There is an entity that will be replacing the Edgefield Restaurant building. Rumor is another thyme of cafe.

3) The Basement East is now open.

4) The Turnip Truck new store is well underway with land development.

5) The Family Wash opening soon.

6) The Lofts next to the Braeden UMC have stalled for some reason.

Rumor swirls that we may be getting an office building to two along Main Street. The current small office buildings are full and more creative businesses like Advertising agencies are interested on the East Side.

More when I hear it.

It would be nice if as part of these improvements they installed a cross walk somewhere between Eastland and McKennie.

...or two, for that matter.  That's a good ways between those 2, in a rather dense corridor.  Maybe they're in the plan (or not).
