  1. Back in 2020 @PaulChinetti saw this old sign taken down somewhere by 4th avenue. A couple posts after this one I found the Google street view where this originally sat, not far from the old Wedgewood Houston water tower. Look what I found today
  2. Public art hiding amongst the construction at the Finery. Pic taken along Merritt Ave. Also looks like landscaping work is beginning.
  3. I keep thinking as I walk by... they're going to paint over that green right? Right? ah well.
  4. House at 475 Humphries St., just west of Martin Flats, about to come down.
  5. Nashville Banner has statements on transit from the candidates: https://nashvillebanner.com/2023/06/12/at-issue-transit/
  6. I noticed the same. Don't know what happened.
  7. Fences are up at the AJ Capital property on Martin Street between Humphries and Houston - and there's some demo equipment parked there. Looks like a warehouse is about to come down.
  8. I hope this isn't too far off-topic, but a few weeks ago in the lead up to some stormy weather, I had the WSMV live feed on for updates - and between weather broadcasts they just show a live shot of downtown from across the river, with the AT&T building in plain sight. Glanced up at the screen to see that somebody had a laser beam projector pointed at the building, displaying various bits of hate speech. All I saw was for a minute or two before it stopped. The building sure provided a wide, flat, prominent canvas.
  9. Some of you will remember there was an attempt by Colby Sledge a few years ago to get the lanes reduced on 8th down to 3, before the water main project got started, but most businesses along the way were having none of it.
  10. Yeah, fair point. I don't think anyone is expecting Kroger to set up shop in the area, I wouldn't want that anyhow. Bunch of us miss Sassafras Market, just a little corner shop/deli where E+Rose is now. I'm not aware of details why they failed, but IMHO they unwisely stocked expensive organic brands, and didn't carry a lot of everyday staples. They opened when there were far fewer people in the area than there will be soon. I hope someone tries again before too long. I'm probably premature in saying this, but a 'community driven project' isn't what I see yet. Edit: eh, I'm going to retract this. I didn't get to go to the public meeting, and I'm far from an expert at these things anyhow. I will step back and see what happens next
  11. I've contributed to, and read all the comments the Somera project web page asking for input - and I have to agree with a lot of the suggestions for what the community needs. TBH I'm not seeing any of that in these plans. They're asking for dog parks and grocery stores and mid-range retail and dining. Haven't seen one request for a boutique hotel...
  12. Somera Road has a new site seeking input on the property on Martin Merritt they plan to develop. https://www.mm-wedgewoodhouston.com edit: ok, the site is not very new, but new to me. They just recently put up a sign with a QR code up right at the corner.
  13. Standard Assembly tonight. Also, I didn't get a picture but I saw some mass timber being put into place at T3 this morning.
